Harbourbay Amir Hotel

This Hotel is dated, and the Rooms need a much needed upgrade. Carpets and Furniture needs to be changed. The room passageway carpet badly needs a change. The Morning breakfast has very limited options and if you're late for breakfast you will not have any options to eat. This hotel is walking distance to Harbour Bay terminal and there is a mall just right beside it.

Booked for 4 days and 3 nights. Located near to Harbour Bay Ferry terminal around 500 mtr or less. Welcome was ok, had to wait for check-in around 30 min as staff was not able to find booking and room was not ready. Apart from that check-in was smooth. Good sofas and welcome drink jar at reception to kill time during your wait. Room was big but low on cleanliness, worn out carpet and sticky tapes from someone’s birthday/love celebration all over walls and ceiling were there (Check Pics). When I complained to service staff, I was informed that due to long weekend this is the only room available. For single night, I would have been ok but for 3 nights, it was like a punishment staring at walls and ceiling like that. Bathroom was super clean and towels were in good shape despite room being like that. Toiletries were provided. View from room is good. Breakfast is a normal one and mostly contains local dishes like chicken rending, fish curry, Soto ayam soups etc., in western you can find breads, salad and eggs to order. Juice were super sweet and I think were made from concentrates. Restaurant food is average and is just a formality. Room service are super slow. Harbor bay mall is just next to it and you can find some good coffee and snacks there. Good movie hall and super good Tattoo shop named as Baxter. Apart from that mall is an abandoned building. Near ferry terminal, you can find good seafood, Italian, Chinese and budget food courts too. If you want to eat in room from outside you can have food delivery from Gojek app. It’s a pain to get Radio cabs here as they are banned, hotel is monopolized by private taxi operators who will charge you double. As soon as you exit hotel they will follow you to take their cab. Radio cabs can drop you but cannot pick you. So if you are on budget or don’t want to pay extra go to opposite side of main road and book app based cabs/bikes as they can pick from there. If you are solo than use Gojek for bikes as its dirt-cheap. Please do not insist radio cabs to pick you from hotel as private taxi operators might abuse them or vandalize their vehicle. A super store is there in mall basement and super useful for any need. In conclusion, stay here only if you cannot find any other hotel and you are arriving from Harbor bay ferry terminal. I was staying here with my family for 2 nights. The hotel is located next to Harbour Bay Mall, nearby ferry terminal. It takes around 10 or 15 minutes by car to Nagoya shopping district, but the area around the hotel itself is quite restful so it's a good place to rest. Checking in took a little longer since we did not get non-smoking rooms and had to upgrade to Superior rooms in order to have non-smoking ones. One male receptionist working on Friday afternoon (around 3 PM) with slicked-back hair was somewhat hostile (I forgot his name), but the other two receptionists were friendly. The interior reminded me of fancy hotels in the 80s or 90s. My room was on the 8th floor, overlooking the city. I still had to use a regular key instead of room card to access my room. The room itself was rather vacuous, if not spacious--there was quite a space on the left side of my double bed. The room was equipped with basic amenities such as television, air conditioner, tea/coffee maker, study desk, and an armchair. The WiFi was somewhat problematic. Furniture were quite dated, but still reflected some elegance from the past. The bathroom was just fine, equipped with a bathtub. Unfortunately, I had to turn on the water tap and let the water flow for about 1-2 minutes to get cleaner water. The good thing was the bathtub was quite long so it'd be great for soaking. My breakfast was decent, although I won't say that it tasted excellent. Their chicken with Thai sauce was tasty though.
