Oceano Jambuluwuk Resort

Nice hotel, located on the northern side of the island, close to Turtlepoint. We had breakfast on the beach, with a view of turtles surfacing. The hotel has its own beach with sun loungers and cabanas. The rooms are nice and well-maintained, there is a large breakfast buffet, and the staff are very sweet and polite. It is peaceful on this part of the island, compared to the noisier areas around the harbor on the east side and around the hotels on the west side, where there is loud music and partying. Both are within walking distance (there is only 7 km all the way around the island) or you can rent bikes, e-scooters, or take a taxi (horse carriage).

A very beautiful property from the outside, with a huge garden where the different room bungalows are located, two large swimming pools, and a lovely beachfront restaurant area, especially in the evening. Unfortunately, despite this, our room was definitely not up to the standard of a 4-star hotel. The walls were badly peeling, there was almost no space to put suitcases or other bulky items, and the bathroom was in poor condition. Even the shower did not work properly, with water coming out only from part of the showerhead. Our room was close to the reception, and the rooms in that area had old wooden doors and windows that did not seal properly, meaning that almost anything could get inside from outdoors. In fact, we ended up sleeping with geckos in the room. The rooms towards the far end of the property seemed newer and appeared to have better doors and windows. Overall, considering the condition of our room, I would not return.

I gave this hotel 1 star, and I would advise against booking here. In my experience, the hotel is rather of a weak 3-star standard, while prices in July were at a level that you would expect from a much better hotel. Already on arrival you are met with a reception and public areas that feel very worn and poorly maintained. Unfortunately, that feeling continues throughout the facility. Breakfast was very disappointing. The selection was limited, with only a few hot dishes, and you often had to wait in line to get fried eggs. In addition, there was a recurring shortage of dishes, cups and cutlery, and what was available was not always properly clean. The buffet was filled slowly and sometimes water dripped from the fruit and vegetable table, giving an unhygienic impression. The rooms didn't live up to expectations either. Soap was not always filled, the toilet often smelled bad after flushing or showering, and the toilet seat itself felt unfresh and uncomfortable to use. The walls also had many stains that gave a dirty and poorly maintained impression. There were a lot of mosquitoes, and at night strange noises could also be heard from the ceiling, as if animals or other animals were moving there, which made it difficult to feel relaxed. We actually chose not to even use the pool because the other condition of the hotel made us not feel comfortable with it. Overall, this is my second worst hotel experience ever, even though we travel a lot and have stayed in hotels worldwide. Given the price level, I would have expected a significantly higher standard. Unfortunately, I cannot recommend this hotel.
