Best Western Montenotte Hotel

This is an absolutely beautiful hotel with so very friendly staff who go out of their way to be helpful. The rooms we had were lovely, clean and comfortable and the restaurant gave us a lovely meal even though we were late. We would recommend this hotel to anyone.

We shelled out nearly AUD $1000 for a stay at the Montenotte as part of their bed, Breakfast, Dinner Movie package. Was prepared to pay this as it was our splurge accom on a month long trip around the UK. It was chaos when we arrived for check in. Lots of people checking in for what we didn't realise was the Cork Marathon the next day. The room itself was beautiful, but disappointingly faced the carpark. Considering I had booked this months in advance, I would have expected a better view. A conversation the next day at the front desk makes me believe that because lots of people were checking in early, perhaps our intended room was given away to someone else. Maybe? Who knows? There was a lovely note left for Bryan from the owner, neither of which was our name, so that was great. The disappointments just kept rolling on with a very mediocre dinner in a beautiful restaurant.I was seated facing a wall right at the door going outside to the terrace and it was absolutely freezing. After having a conversation with the head waiter, we were moved to a more warmer table for dessert, however I had lost interest in anything he had suggested to make the evening better. We didn't even venture down to the movie because it was all such a disappointment. I thank him for his efforts, but I had honestly checked out by then and nothing was going to bring me back from the abyss of realising I'd spent so much money on this hotel stay with not much reward. Maybe it was a one off, maybe it was because of the marathon, but this hotel could definitely do better.
