I stayed at The Belvedere Hotel for one night, 18-19 June, and I can confidently say this was the worst hotel service I have experienced after travelling to more than 26 countries. To begin with, the room was unbearable. There was no air conditioning whatsoever - just a table fan. Outside our window were what appeared to be heating/ventilation pipes or machinery throwing out heat, so opening the window made the room even hotter. Keeping it shut was just as bad. The room felt like a sauna. If you don't want to spend the night sweating and wondering why you're paying hotel prices for a table fan ,do not book this place. Then there is the so-called breakfast buffet they advertise. Vegetarian options were practically non-existent, and vegans may as well forget about breakfast altogether. There were no basic dental kits in the room either. The next morning, when we had a flight to catch, we woke up to no electricity, no lights, dead room phones and no functioning lift. There was absolutely no way of contacting reception from the room. Want water? Walk downstairs. Need a dental kit? Walk downstairs. Need help? Apparently, that's your problem too. What I find particularly ridiculous is that if the hotel already knew its intercom/phones were not working, why was nobody proactively checking on guests or asking whether they needed basic necessities? Where exactly is the hospitality? The checkout experience was the final straw. Because the lifts were not working, we specifically asked staff to help us with our luggage. My husband had a back injury, so carrying several bags down three floors was not something he should have been doing. We waited. And waited. 45 minutes later, nobody came. We had a flight to catch and were running out of time. Our options were either to go downstairs again, remind the staff, climb three floors back up and continue waiting, or drag the luggage downstairs ourselves. So that is exactly what we had to do - drag all our luggage down from the third floor ourselves while my husband had a back injury because the hotel staff simply couldn't be bothered to turn up. Power failures happen. Lifts break. Equipment develops faults. But complete indifference from staff is not a technical fault No air conditioning. No proper ventilation. Poor vegetarian options. No basic amenities. No electricity. Dead phones. Broken lifts. No communication. No proactive assistance. And staff who leave guests waiting 45 minutes for help that never arrives. After visiting 26+ countries, I have stayed in all kinds of accommodation, and I have never felt compelled to write a review like this. The Belvedere Hotel genuinely takes the prize for the worst service I have received while travelling. Save yourself the frustration and book somewhere else.
