Arbutus Hotel

Great location. Very good recently priced food at the pub. What was best for the two women who helped us make a variety of arrangements. particular, we were hiking the Carway and she arranged for a cab to take us to Black Valley. It was not easy to do and did it cheerfully and eagerly and successfully. We loved this place.

A beautiful property with truly incredible staff! Unfortunately, the lack of air conditioning made the rooms incredibly hot, and the street/hallway noise made it hard to sleep. Wonderful people, but the comfort level fell short.

We stayed here for 2 nights - the hotel is spotlessly clean (everywhere!) and in a great position for walking to all the pubs, restaurants and shops in the centre of Killarney. We were there just before it gets very busy in Killarney and a large funfair occupied the parking area just behind the hotel so it was not possible to park there, but the lady on reception recommended another carpark a couple of hundred metres away the was fine and only 3 euro per day. Within the hotel is the lively Buckleys Bar with traditional music each night (the name did not register until we saw the pictures of the Oscar celebrations!) and our bedroom was spacious, period feel and beautifully furnished (including a chaise longue), and being near the back of the hotel we expected to hear noise from the fair, but it was actually very quiet and relaxing in the room. Staff were friendly. The only criticism - at breakfast the eggs (fried or scrambled) were very overcooked, even though each breakfast was individually prepared and not from a buffet. This may seem minor but it happened both mornings and we saw similar on the plates of others, which spoiled the start to the day somewhat and is the reason for awarding a 4 rather than a 5 . An easy fix I am sure.
