On first glance, when entering the guesthouse/ hotel, it looks very luxurious and spacious. We were impressed for about 20 mins. Then we saw the crumbs on the floor, the dirt and stains around the kitchen area floor, the dirty floor inside the bathroom cupboard, and, to crown it all, a piece of chewing gum on the low table by the sofa... where my one-year-old had just grabbed and was about to put in his mouth! Whilst we were exclaiming over the fact that it looked like no-one had cleaned properly, the people above us were making a huge amount of noise, and having previously made sure to request a quiet room, we called the hotel owner to ask for a solution. She had none, but did come over, admitted the room did look dirty, and asked if we'd give it a chance for the night to see if the noise was tolerable. As it was late and we have 2 young children and a baby, we agreed to do so. The noise til around 1130 from both the family above and the loud voices of people entering the building right by our door (yes,a "quiet" room obviously constitutes placing the guests in the room by the loudly creaking entrance door, where all voices easily penetrate the cardboard-like walls as though they were coming into our room!),kept my children awake til it seemed finally everyone had entered close to midnight. The noise began again at around 6.30 in the morning. As we were exhausted, we decided to leave after breakfast, and not stay the extra night we had booked, as the owner had assured us that this was fine. We had breakfast at the hotel in another street that this one had an agreement with, which was a very frustrating experience - they couldn't cope with the number of guests in terms of space or food, and kept running out of basic items, like plates, glasses, spoons...! We had to constantly ask for something. The available seats were mostly all in the already hot sun, and the staff requested guests not to move tables into the shaded courtyard! We are now fighting the hotel to return our money for the night that we didn't stay, as they are claiming now that the rooms were clean, that we were met on arrival and accepted the conditions etc. Definitely don't stay here, choose an authentic stone building, there are other lovely places to stay, and don't be seduced by the pictures of luxury for a good price, because it's just surface. These owners are liars and cheats.
