Vacanza in Puglia

This was really great,and Amazing,as it's quite and relaxing.the room was big and clean,but if there could be an air-condition,it would be more comfortable,as somedays was hot,and in the afternoon we couldn't sleep because of the heat,so we had to go in the pool,to keep cool.mind you the pool was great.Anyway the staff was kind and friendly, looking forward to see you again. Place is beautiful and the location is perfect. Breakfast was delicious. The pool area just stunning. Very friendly and welcoming owners. Restaurant recommendation La Nicchia was great. Only the restaurant is located right on the street

We saw the film ( Walking on Sunshine ) were looking for a retirement place to be. Something special ! The film was not such a brilliant film but the location seemed Perfect! I love white sandy beaches and calm clean ocean My partner wants to be able to set in a coffee shop reading his newspaper close to a small town! We chose 4 days in October 2015 to visit! Choosing a Hotel! Choosing a flight. Most UK flights are from Stanstead into either BRINDISI or Bari Monopoli I between both airports seemed a good starting point and locationthen across to Gallipoli Car hire was easy We chose Don Ferante Hotel in Monopoli and this was a great choice . Truly type rooms in the old town. Steeped with history and culture. Quiet and spotlessly clean both Hotel and Old Town. Perfect!! Staff were friendly and helpful Across the Gallipoli - we chose Palazza Di Corso hotel Again a good choice. Staff excellent and a perfect location set in the city but a short walk across into the old town of Gallipoli Breakfast in this Hotel was below expectation but we appreciate that not everyone would like to eat what we would expect for our breakfast ! Gallipoli was nice an ancient city wall surrounding an island. Again steeped in History. And very clean !Restaurant choices - I always ask the Hotel for choices. First evening I wasn't that impressed really Of course a pasta dish is good and mainly FISH on the menu is great. But ambiance and food tastes were bland and I felt not so comfortable. Second evening choose of restaurant was a lot better. In fact very nice Food a lot better and wine - great. Red Paololeo Salente region ! Try to Marzipan from a Shop/ Restaurant called SWEET inside the old town. Lovely ! Driving around was good. Roads and signs easy to follow. Beaches from Gallipoli South were lovely. A little off the beaten track but be adventurous and through wooded forest and dirt track toad and sand dunes you will find some rather spectacular beaches. All what I had hoped for !!!! Crystal clear sea !! But the surrounding locations didn't fit into what we were looking for -- some run down properties closed up for the winter with nothing much around ! My favourite beach was Coco Loco beach but we did find other really good choices -- just by turning off the main road and being abit adventurous ! OCTOBER many seaside resorts in PUGLIA Are closed. Finding a shop, Bar or cafes was hard. Along the coastal road Everything seemed to be closed ! But then surprises pop up. Such as from the tip of Leuca (seaside resort not my favourite place and mostly closed down --ias were other seaside type resorts --old and tired ) towards Otranta the scenery was breathtaking .... Cliff top driving very similar to Cornwall in the Uk or Portafino -amazing scenery. Really breathtakingly beautiful Coves. Beautiful blue clean sea. Then something special -- A wonderful road side restaurant. Probably 10 mins from the tip of Leuca heading towards Otranta --- Set into the cliffs with garden and seating area cascading into the cliff Great staff and a lovely lunch. Really nice ! Otranta - again the old meeting the new. Stepped in history and culture We drove around Lecce - headed for Port Catilda. Closed down ghost town not very nice really. Then drove towards BRINDISI. Every coastal resort closed down. Old and tired and really not worth seeing. We went into Villanova - this was open and nice harbour type setting. We found a few bars open but no food! Except for a packet of crisps Back to Monopoli to our Hotel Don Ferante for our last evening. Restaurant choice not brilliant really. Back to the bland fish dish nothing spectacular. Pasta was nice though Once I remember my restaurants chosen I'll review on trip adviser ! We're leaving from Bari airport. No we haven't found our retirement place to be here. So we will keep looking.
