Review: Disappointing experience in Pescoluse at Dimore Turchesi (Quadri)
Having booked a property in Pescoluse two months in advance, paying a large deposit in cash, I expected a stay in line with the information presented on the Dimore Turchesi website. However, the reality we encountered was very different. Our stay in Pescoluse was seriously compromised by a series of problems and shortcomings.
1. Initial cleaning: Upon arrival, we immediately pointed out, inside the space in front of the house, the presence of bins full of rubbish that had not been disposed of for some time, now smelly and putrid, and an old broken suitcase left in a dull manner next to it to the bins and also to be disposed of. The assistant informed us that the responsibility for disposing and, consequently, cleaning and sanitizing the garbage containers fell on us, which was unexpected and disappointing. Instead of receiving an apology or quick intervention, we had to take charge of the situation to make the outdoor area clean and therefore livable
2. Structure not in accordance with the description: Contrary to what was advertised, one of the floors was completely below street level (completely underground, which was not reported), without windows and with inadequate ventilation, unbreathable air. This made the environment particularly unpleasant, unlivable as well as not conforming to the standards of a tourist facility, profoundly unsatisfactory.
3. Linen service: Although we had paid (in advance) a supplement of 15 euros per person for linen (sheets and towels), this was provided with a delay, after several calls, depriving us of the possibility of adequately resting after the trip, trivially take a shower or lie down in bed.
4. Serious logistical deficiency: The availability of only one key for a group of eight people and the lack of adequate chairs (4 chairs for 8 people) further compromised the quality of our stay. Despite our repeated requests, we were unable to obtain solutions. Indeed, our legitimate requests, such as a second key or additional chairs, were completely ignored. Furthermore, the availability of only one key made our every exit complicated, severely limiting our autonomy during our stay.
5. Absolute lack of communication: Despite numerous calls and requests, we were consistently ignored by management.
6. Health issues: Two members of our group experienced breathing problems following their stay in the basement, which further cast a shadow on our experience.
7. Opaque financial management: The payment process, which included a transfer fee and a deposit, was complicated and non-transparent. We were forced to pay via direct bank transfer, with a reason of around 65 euros. However, there were delays when returning the deposit
incomprehensible, forcing us to make further and stressful interventions (insistent and repeated calls).
In conclusion, I would strongly advise against a stay at Dimore Turchesi in Pescoluse, an abandoned town with a lot of potential but with terrible tourism management. The local sellers are mean and offer prices that are out of the market, making the place unusable for an Italian family but also out of the market if you think about the competition from places that are much more prone to tourism (Campania, Sicily for example).
My hope is that this review can help other travelers make an informed choice. It is clear that Dimore Turchesi did not meet the minimum standards of hospitality. I highly recommend avoiding this property and looking elsewhere for a stay (if you really want to visit Pescoluse).
