The best rubs shoulders with the worst in this establishment. On the + side, the stylish decor, in Lecce stone, in line with the photos, the comfort of the rooms quite exceptional and the location in the heart of Maglie (visit and restaurants are on foot), town itself ideally located to radiate on the south of Apulia. But it’s not enough to be well placed and instagramable to earn the high-end hotel label. What is not said before payment is that the Corte dei Granai has no staff present at all times: after noon, we are alone until the next morning. Which could be agreed if the logistics were impeccable... but they're not. Everything is done by messages with access codes on all exits. But the afternoon of our arrival, I had not received the one from the parking that I had paid extra 20th per night. Luckily, one of the employees stopped by exceptionally half an hour after we arrived to pick something up, just as I was returning to my car parked in rationing paying in the street waiting, and she gave me the code while discreetly calling "Tamara", in charge of remote management... who then sent me the code by email. Probably so I couldn't write what I wrote: that I hadn't received it. But if I hadn't met the employee, what would I have done? Because, know, at the number given in case of need, no one answers, especially not in the evening. One evening we came home late, a high window with electric control had been left open by the cleaning lady, we had no document on the coffee table or symbol on the wall explaining the means of closure (case? switch?), no one answered neither our call nor our SMS. We had to search for it on our own by going to the deserted reception and passing behind the window plunged into darkness, by the light of our mobile phone, like burglars, before realizing that we had to press one of the switches at the other end of the room, without any logo on it. On the other hand, this structure knows how to contact you in the minute to make you pay, because the supplements are multiple: breakfast, parking, spa (his manager contacted me one lunch by whatsapp to set up a presta that I had never asked for) and even... morning omelette. In this regard, I doubt the authenticity of the reviews that evoke a sumptuous breakfast, with small jams with olives not to be missed like "we are at home, pampered by a mamma in a cozy farmhouse", or they are people who have never traveled. Because some pastries not crispy, two pies, orange juice and industrial yogurt, a display of mini-pots Bonne Maman, but no fruit salad or boiled eggs and an americano coffee lying in water, even a 2 star chain offers more!! Even though the two employees visible in the morning are very smiling and do their utmost, one senses that this establishment is not run by hotel professionals but by an investor whose goal is to maximize its profits. Too bad because the place has real potential to become an exceptional hotel. It would be enough by little. Millimeterized management, 24-hour contact (what would happen in case of fire or water damage? Mystery) and services in connection with the rate charged. In short, I don't totally advise against staying there because the rooms and the place are still pleasant, but you have to go with knowledge of the facts: you will have to manage everything yourself, your check-in (to do online before arriving otherwise no access codes), the good reception of useful information in good time and possible contingencies, while being entitled in return to no service included.
