Palace Hotel San Michele

We escaped the suffocating heat of the coast — where it reached 37°C between Mattinata and Manfredonia — to find refuge in Monte Sant'Angelo: at an altitude of about 800 meters, the temperature drops to a very pleasant 27-28°C, offering a cool evening breeze and a crisp morning air that is truly rejuvenating, in addition to a breathtaking view over the entire Gulf of Manfredonia. The welcome was extraordinary in every respect. A special round of applause to the manager Pasquale, who made us feel at home even during the very busy Ferragosto period, and to Maria, impeccable from the very first contact by phone and email, always thorough and ready to handle every need or menu change with a smile. A warm thank you also goes to Michela from the American Bar, a true professional, capable of finding the ideal solution for the whole family with grace and promptness. The property combines history and modernity: the rooms are spacious, extremely comfortable, and with an impeccable level of daily cleanliness, rare to find anywhere in high season; from our triple suite with a small terrace, we also enjoyed a splendid view of the castle. The catering deserves an honorable mention: • Breakfast: Real coffee from the bar! Very creamy espresso and cappuccino, prepared on the spot with a professional manual machine and not by self-service machines, accompanied by excellent cheesecakes and homemade cakes. • Lunch and Dinner: Menu curated to perfection by the chef, with a choice of three first courses, three second courses, and three side dishes, in addition to desserts and coffee. Dishes always delicious, genuine, balanced in portions, and never repetitive. • Dining Room Service: Directed with great courtesy and thoughtfulness by the Dining Room Manager, always kind and helpful, supported by attentive, polite, and impeccable waiters in assisting us during all the meals of our stay. A five-star experience that we highly recommend to those looking for coolness, excellence in services, cleanliness, and authentic human warmth. We will definitely return as soon as possible!
