Hotel Oriente Bari

One can walk to the old Bari, to the beach and is surrounded by shops, supermarkets etc. The facilities are good, as well as the coffee, morning. We stayed in it for 3 times during our stay in Puglia. I'd definitely come back.

My expectations were high when checking in as the front desk representative was very nice. To our surprise the room was ready given we arrived early. Entering the elevator the walls have years of wear and tear need to be cleaned up or changed out. Stepping onto our floor the carpet has seen better days. Get to the room it’s hot and adjust the temperature. The room titles a deluxe room but seems to be smaller guessing the pictures on the website show it larger. Temperature is not coming down. With disappointment we ask the front desk about the room and if there is a larger room or something bigger they do not but can put in the same room on a different floor. It’s seems bigger and the temperature was cooler as we walked in the new room. The temperature never gets past 22 and I ask the front desk for a fan as the room is not cooling down. They don’t have one the clerk checks the computer and says the room is set at 22 as they control the temperature. Why wouldn’t they disclose this. Back to the room. The shower floor is cracked but repaired with silicone. The ceiling in the bathroom is coming apart. The room is basic unfortunately given the price and website. I would rate the hotel a 3 star versus 4 star classification. I expected more give location but unfortunately it did not make my last two days of two week travels better.

For the price, this hotel was a disappointment. It feels old, and the finishes seem to have been chosen for their durability as opposed to lending an air of elegance or comfort. Rooms were small, and baths badly indeed of updating. The hotel's location is good, as it is only a few blocks from the old city of Bari, and very walkable. Also, there is public parking directly outside the front door. There is a hotel restaurant located in the basement, once again with finishes chosen for durability.
