Hilton Garden Inn Matera

So I booked this hotel without checking reviews, which I always do, but because of a favorable location between my travel appointments, I went there and saw how badly this hotel was reviewed. We were super friendly received by the reception, a nice room with enough space and a view behind the hotel over the pool and the fields. So we did pay for that other pool and it is just beautiful and much quieter than the other pool, had a lovely lunch in the restaurant, immediately reserved for the evening dinner. And that was super beautiful, soft music in the background, super nice service, one of them is Luigi, a top guy, and super delicious food and wonderful wine. If I had to say something negative, it is that the wait at the elevator is long (3 minutes) 😂😂 Had nothing to complain about, super good hotel and yes, it's really worth 4 stars, it costs what it costs, but then you also get something

I spent the Christmas holidays in this splendid property just outside Matera and the experience exceeded all my wildest expectations! From the moment you arrive, you breathe an extraordinary festive air: the grand lobby is magnificently decorated, with a dizzying Christmas tree, fountains, and enchanting light displays that immediately create a warm Christmas atmosphere.Here are the details that made this Christmas stay perfect:The Christmas Lunch and Dinners: The on-site dining was the real highlight. The holiday menus offer carefully prepared dishes, rich in traditional Lucanian flavors and revisited with the highest class. Despite the dining room being deservedly full for the event, the organization and timing were impeccable.Winter pampering at the Spa: With the Christmas cold outside, taking refuge in the property's indoor wellness area was a dream. The wellness circuit including the sauna, Turkish bath, and whirlpool is rejuvenating, a true paradise of relaxation.Warm and welcoming rooms: Upon returning from our walks, the room proved to be a perfect nest. Spacious, spotless, with an incredibly comfortable bed and an excellent, silent heating system. The presence of a kettle in the room for a hot herbal tea before sleeping was much appreciated.Strategic location for the Sassi: The hotel is located about 10-15 minutes by car from the center of Matera. It is a fabulous and very convenient base (thanks also to the large free parking lot) for visiting the city, which at Christmas turns into a real open-air living nativity scene.Exquisite staff: A huge round of applause goes to the entire staff, from the reception to the dining room. Their kindness, professionalism, and warm smiles made us feel pampered and at home throughout the holidays. Highly recommended! If you want to treat yourself to a special Christmas, combining the timeless charm of Matera with the comfort of a high-level star-rated hotel, this is absolutely the best choice. We will definitely be back!

Located a few km from Matera, this hotel is an excellent solution for visiting Matera and other nearby towns (Altamura, for example). Very large hotel, equipped with three outdoor pools (one not included in the stay) and a spa. Some common areas are under renovation, but despite this, there were no limitations to the service. Well-organized, comfortable, and clean pool. Efficient bar service, even for lunch. We did not try the spa, but it looked very nice. The garden with waterfalls, streams, and lots of greenery is fabulous. New, clean, and well-maintained rooms. Kind staff both at the reception and especially at the restaurant and pool. Varied and continental breakfast. Some delays with drink orders at breakfast. We were on half-board, and I must say that the restaurant exceeded expectations with sophisticated and high-quality offerings, dining by the pond in a very beautiful setting. The meeting and event room area is under renovation. Incredible lounge bar
