Hotel Reginella

Small hotel but with spacious rooms and mini-bar coins and large TV, adequately air conditioned. Excellent breakfast made on a large terrace with spectacular views. Very kind owners who give good indications for visiting the place. Good location halfway between the square and the natural arch. Convenient supermarket nearby.

Stayed in room 215 , mosquitoes in room , view of next doors roof so kept shutters closed. Shower cubicle narrow , unable to move , large outlet pipe above , possibly allowing mosquitoes in . Flush very hard to push , then over 5 minutes later the noise loud and disturbing from the plumbing. The beds and mattresses were old and squeaky , the pillows history , questionable. The staff were faultless and work hard , the room clean as towels and sheets were changed. This area of Italy is known for it's produce and even the coffee was undrinkable, the bread was stale . We bought fruit , he had issues washing it for us he was rude.

Was not my hotel of choice as I was meant to stay at the Hotel Reginella in Positano. So you can imagine the surprise! Expedia totally screwed up my 5 day booking and Amalfie Coast experience. Was sent to this hotel which was miles from my intended location. Hotel was unfriendly and mostly unhelpful. No restaurant for food at night in hotel although they proudly display themselves as being a 'Risortante'. Manager tells you to go eat out. Not informative about local transport provided willingly - pointed to the information board to work it out for yourself or would advise you to go to the Tobacco shop to find out or take a taxi which was costly. Bedspread in the room was torn, shower a little grimy, uncomfortable bed, no air conditioning, window did not open fully and the metal roller blind did not work. If you let go of the blind you run the real risk of decapitating yourself! The blind itself had tiny holes along it - so could not even see through them - no view - no air - felt like a prison. Very basic accommodation and an upgrade from a backpackers. Wanted to call Expedia about my booking on arrival but the Manager refused to give me a line out to call them. Kept laughing at me and saying that there was nothing wrong with the phone line and that I had already booked this hotel so there was no need to call Expedia as they would not do anything. It was really intimidating and frustrating. Eventually on insisting I was able to use his front of office phone. Still met with laughing as I tried to make the call. For the whole week I was met with sniggering and chatter in Italian by the Manager and his staff when I went out or returned from my day out. Each morning he would ask me if I had heard from Expedia and when I would say no not yet he would laugh. The Manager would insist I leave my key at the desk on the way out. Was advised that if I lost the key it would cost me €50 to replace. No safe in the room either so did not feel comfortable with my belongings being there when I was out. Breakfast was an absolute minimum. Dried up bread in a packet with slices of cheese and ham that you could see through, room temperature water and a jug of juice, small range of jams and a few croissants on a plate that were not by any means fresh. Ate breakfast there only the once and asked for a scrambled egg. Was met with a gasp and some resistance but eventually the eggs came. I ate out all other days. Such an unpleasant experience. Everything at this place was too much trouble and unwelcoming.
