Room was newly decorated, some electric wiring still in the walls (could be hidden with a painting/photograph/mirror). Tasteful decoration, clean and tidy, good size. Mattress a bit on the soft side for me but it will suit the majority of travellers.Double glazed windows. Port/sea view good. Bathroom clean, warm shower. Wifi doesn't work in the room because it was in the end of the corridor and probably too far from the router but it works in the bar and restaurant. The rooms are above 2 bars and it is EXTREMELY noisy at night, until very very late. It doesn't matter what day of the week it is! I couldn't sleep the first night at all and had to buy earplugs to be able to sleep for a further 3 nights. The railway which is nearby (station: Portici-Ercolano) doesn't really disturbs, nothing like the noise from the bar. The trains will not stop you from sleeping, italian partying will! Portici is not a touristic area and, therefore, don't expect their english to be good. The costumer guide in the room is the most hilarious english translation I have ever seen. It has sentences that make no sense in english at all. It's worth reading it just for a laugh! There are a couple of members of staff who's english is not too bad and they are very helpful. Breakfast is good: coffee/hot chocolate/tea, croissant and toasts and jams. It's a pity there is no fresh bread but overall still good. Bayard Restaurant and Bayard Coffee/Bar are good and Bayard Room's clients have 20% and 10% discount respectively. Price is not too expensive and it's worth it. Food is delicious! Regardless of all the pros I will not stay here again. Travellers pay to sleep not to be forced to be awake.

We (company of 4 friends) booked 2 rooms in Bayard for one night, on our way to Napoli airport. And it was the worst mistake in our trip. First, it was hard to find it and it wasn't a hotel with a reception and parking. Second, they didn't accept credit cards despite the information in booking system. Third and the worst problem is the location of the hotel. The place is terrible, depressive and unpleasant. We booked two rooms with sea view, it would be better to take with "railway" view. In the evening hundreds of young people occupied whole coast in front of the building. They were chatting, laughing, sniffing all around. We didn't feel comfortable and secure, worried about our car parked on the street and didn't walk at all. These young people were very noisy, also the several bars on the ground floor did. So we had to close windows, but it didn't help completely. We had to stand up very early, but couldn't sleep well. Nevertheless, rooms inside were normal. We hadn't check wifi, and didn't notice any other problems. Sea view in the morning was also good. Also friendly barmen gave us some cakes and juices for breakfast, because we leaved too early. But I strongly don't recommend this place, if you are not going to spend time together with Portici young people.

We stayed here in April 2013', and apart from a few issues had a nice time. The rooms are located in Portici next to a small harbour, above a bar around 300 metres from the railway station. Although hard to find, once you get there you realise that this is quite a good location. We stayed in a double, deluxe room which was of a reasonable size and had a view directly over the harbour to Ischia. The room had a small TV (no English channels), wardrobe and drawers, and a bathroom with shower and bidet. Now the issues : No wi-fi as advertised, no breakfast. We were told that breakfast was available at the nearby Club Mirto - a lounge bar / club on the seafront, but each day we arrived all we got was juice, coffee and a stale pastrie. There is also no restaurant, although there did appear to be some building work being done next to the bar downstairs. The bar downstairs is quite nice, and reasonably priced, although this is nothing to do with the Bayard rooms. The housekeeping was good, with clean towels and sheets regularly. About the area : Portici goes nuts in the evenings, with traffic everywhere and literally hundreds of people gathering in the harbour and at the bar and Club Mirto. They go on until the early hours and it does get very noisy, especially with car horns constantly being pressed. A word of advice : we were checking out early Monday morning and were unable to settle up Sunday as no-one was around. When I tried to pay by card I was told cash only, despite the room brochure stating card would be ok. There isn't an ATM for miles so beware.
