Covo Dei Saraceni

Covo Dei Saraceni is an excellent choice for experiencing Positano. The location is central to dining options, ferry, night life, and the beach. The decor is very comfortable, clean and well maintained. The rooms were small, but functional, and had beautiful little terraces. I enjoyed having my morning coffee on the terrace watching the beach come to life and boating activity. I was surprised by how quiet it was at night by the hotel. (I expected it to be noisier with the great location). The choices for breakfast, service, and the view all added to make for a magical experience. The exceptional service was provided in all aspects of the hotel. They helped setting up a porter to deliver a piece of luggage after the airline lost it. Hope to stay here again in the future.

We did not have good experience with this hotel and wouldn’t recommend it for the following reasons. I initially booked the room directly through the hotel website. The room I booked was advertised as a premium room, 24-35 meters. Upon arrival the room that was offered was significantly smaller, with no room to even place our luggage. We requested to see another room in the same category and were told that there were no other rooms available in that category or any other category. We expressed our disappointment and disliking of the room offered and advised them that this was not the room that was advertised. We requested to see a room in a lower category so that we can compare the two rooms but were told that there were no other room available to show us. We requested to speak to the manager and were told that the manager was not available. When we asked the front desk to provide us with the square footage of the room offered, they replied that they did not know the size. We decided to look at other options and requested that they book a room for us in their sister hotel called Ancora which is a four star hotel. We were told that the sister hotel did not have any availability . We ended up going to that hotel ourselves and were able to book a perfect room. Although this was a sister hotel, Covo refused to transfer the payment and apply it in their sister property. We had no option but to pay for two hotels because Covo would not refund or transfer the payment to their sister hotel. At no point were we ever contacted by management to remedy this situation and attempt to make it right. Covos representation of the hotel and the size of the rooms was misleading and falsely advertised. They engage in bait-and-switch practices. For these reasons we cannot recommend this hotel.

I wish I could give this hotel more stars for service! This hotel is amazing, but the service takes it above and beyond. JP at Savino was so amazing, and made us want to keep coming back to the restaurant. JP also helped us during our cooking class, and we had the best time! Rosario was also so personable at the pool and had us constantly smiling. We loved Positano and Covo Dei Saraceni, but it’s people like JP and Rosario that made us want to come back. If it weren’t for the great service, we may have wanted to travel or stay somewhere else. Make sure you value these employees and keep them around!
