My girlfriend and I visited Praiano and on our first night, didn’t realize most restaurants in the area closed pretty early. We were walking down the road just seeing if anything was open and asked a man (employee or manager of Open Gate) if he knew of any restaurants open at around 10:30pm. He gave a recommendation and then we checked and saw the place he had recommended had just closed. After looking at the map in front of this restaurant for a few minutes, the man came back out while seeing us struggling. He offered to send us home with takeout lasagna. This genuinely made our night as we were eager to find food. He and the chef then insisted that we ate at the restaurant rather than taking the lasagna to go. They brought us wine and bread and served us about an hour and a half after they had closed. They then insisted we had dessert as well. They were so extremely kind and I wish I had more cash to tip at the time. (And not to mention, the lasagna was the best I’ve ever had). I can’t recommend this place enough.

We had an amazing stay at Hotel Open Gate in Praiano! The location is perfect, with one of the most beautiful and magical views on the Amalfi Coast. Waking up every morning to that view was unforgettable. The hotel was spotlessly clean, and our room was always fresh and comfortable. The staff were incredibly kind, welcoming, and always happy to help with anything we needed. Both the breakfast and dinner were delicious, with excellent quality food and great service. If you’re looking for a peaceful hotel with spectacular views, outstanding cleanliness, delicious food, and wonderful staff, Hotel Open Gate is the perfect choice. We would definitely stay here again and highly recommend it! ❤️

Hotel Open Gate is a jewel of a hotel in Praiano, on the Amalfi Coast. It is run and staffed largely by the wider Lauretano family - two groups of cousins who are the second generation to own and run this superb hotel. It sits *right on* the world famous Amalfi Coast Road, and has a terrace actually on the other side of the road at the top of the steep slope to the sea. Staff cross the road when carrying your dinner to your table. The rooms are all excellent, each with a balcony looking out over the road to the sea. Breakfast is an excellent buffet of fruit, cereals, croissants of many varieties and eggs. Staff prepare fresh tea and coffee to order. The dinner menu is excellent with an extensive range of fresh fish dishes (there’s a local fish delivery daily), authentic Italian and meat dishes. You’ll not find a better hotel in the Praiano area.
