Hotel Villa Bina

Unfortunately, our stay at Villa Bina was extremely disappointing. We booked primarily because of the location on Cala Grado, advertised as an almost secluded bay just a minute down the steps. In reality, we found the cove overcrowded, the water often dirty, and most of the usable space occupied by a beach club. More generally, Sant’Angelo and Ischia were a major disappointment for us: extremely crowded, overwhelmed by cars, poorly maintained in many areas, and far removed from the idyllic image the locals want to promote. The hotel’s supposedly “enviable” position did not impress us either. It feels squeezed into an excavation in the tuff hillside, with dusty, rather neglected surroundings. The parking area says a lot about the general situation: our car would be covered in dust within hours (and regularly targeted by pigeons). The terrace was similarly disappointing: dusty, extremely hot and full of mosquitoes during breakfast. But the room was by far the worst part. We paid for a sea-view suite and received what was essentially a small double-room accommodation — certainly not what most people would understand as a suite. Cheap, ageing furniture, a fridge simply sitting on the floor, approximate cleaning and a bathroom that looked decades old, with a recurring sewage smell coming from the drains. To make matters worse, we experienced repeated power cuts at night, sometimes leaving the air conditioning off for around an hour and quickly turning the room into an oven. We tried discussing these problems, but unfortunately felt that our concerns were dismissed rather than acknowledged. There seemed to be a huge gap between the idyllic picture of the property described by the owner — she spoke about views, colours, scents and paradise all the time — and the rather shabby, poorly maintained reality we experienced. I don't want to sound mean, but she seems to be in total denial. At nearly €400 per night, the value for money was, in our opinion, simply unacceptable. The only genuinely positive aspect was the housekeeping/service staff, who were consistently warm, friendly and lovely to deal with. Unfortunately, that was nowhere near enough to compensate for the rest of the experience.

A beautiful experience in the stunning S. Angelo D’Ischia. We stayed in this very nice establishment in one of their suites: stunning view and impeccable cleanliness, in addition to a very comfortable room. What I appreciated the most, however, was the breakfast served in the morning, worthy of at least a 4-star rating… describing it is unnecessary: you have to try it. Last but not least, the loving presence on the terrace of the sweet Bernese Mountain Dog named Rio, a true institution. We will return as soon as possible!

The structure, well-kept and very clean, is located in a strategic position, near the small beach Cava Grado and the beautiful village of Sant'Angelo. The room , a little 'small but functional (you sleep well!) and breakfast is provided with sweet and savory of excellent quality.
