Some people do their job well, and some people touch their hearts. This post is dedicated to the amazing staff of Hotel del Corso Sorrento. A year ago we planned a special vacation for Romi, who chose the hotel and the tour area herself. The suitcases were ready, the excitement was at its peak and then... the war with Iran broke out. The vacation was cancelled, we stayed with the suitcases in the middle of the living room and with great disappointment in the heart. Janev, in pain of heart, turned to the hotel and asked to see if Vacher could still be accepted for future use, although there was no obligation on their part to do so. Shortly thereafter we received an email from Angelou... an email full of humanity, understanding and generosity – including a Vacher approval for a year. We tried to reconcile, we rejected, we changed our teeth, again didn't work out, and again we tried. I called the hotel a few times, I talked to Angelo, Aurora...it wasn't possible to determine in advance. Between a war that wasn't really over, recruitment, date compulsions and flights, sometimes it felt like we were going through an entire Salome route just to get to this holiday. This year it finally happened. As we entered the hotel, Angelo welcomed us with a big smile and said: "Here, after a year... you're finally here." I'm surprised. There's countless guests going by here. Who remembers an exact story from a year ago? But that's exactly what's special about this place. The next morning, on the hotel's magical porch, I met Emma, who smiled and told me she remembered how much I called and insisted on coming to that vacation and to their hotel. She also remembered! And this is the whole story... Not just a nice, clean, aesthetic and pleasant hotel, not just a perfect location. But people! People who see their guests. People who remember. People who give a real personal attitude, one that cannot be taught in a service class. So thank you for the heart, for the humanity and for the feeling that we have come to the place that awaits us. And thank you again for the important reminder in life: “Nothing is obvious.”

We have never experienced such arrogant, rude service at a hotel as we did at this one. Upon arriving we are asked to pay for our stay up front, which we of course did not comply with. If a hotel is unsure then they should ask for a deposit of one night at the time of booking. Later that day, we asked for help with arranging transport at the end of our stay as we had an early morning flight out of Naples. We were told their service could pick us up at 4am and that is the only option. Well, leaving at 4am for an hour’s drive to Naples Int'l for a 6:30am flight that was not going to work, and their attitude was indifference. At one point we brought back takeaway food and went to dine in the terrace area to which we were told where to sit even though there was no one is on the terrace at the time. Another experience, we arrived for breakfast 15 min ahead of said breakfast time (we had an early morning tour to get to) and they told us breakfast is not available until said start time. They do end up giving us croissants and coffee and stare at us as we eat. This is supposedly a family run business. The young staff were courteous and nice but the over 40-year-old members of the family (three men and one woman who we believe was the chef who has the cooking class) were rude, arrogant and controlling. One other item to mention was we expressed interest in the cooking class they offered. The price I had seen on their website was 90 euros per person. In person the price was $150 euros per person. Never once in our leaving or coming back from a day out were we asked how our stay was going. Prior to arriving in Sorrento, we had stayed in three other hotels, and in all three from Venice, San Gimignano, to Rome our stays were wonderful with lovely people serving at all three and at pricing about 1/3rd lower that this place. Do yourself a favor and don't book a room here.

Lovely hotel in the centre of the action. Spacious, bright rooms with everything you need. Delicious, simple breakfast & coffees. Lovely staff - particularly the lovely lady with the beautiful red curly hair. She was happy to chat & so friendly. Thanks for making our holiday special!
