Giosue A Mare

Premise: I indicated at the time of booking that my wife was eight months pregnant and therefore I did not want to have any problems, given that it was also our wedding anniversary! Upon arrival, we immediately reported that the curtain in the room did not work either electronically or manually; they replied that they would resolve it immediately. Result?! We spent the night awake with the curtains open and had to wake up at 5 in the morning since all the daylight was coming in through the windows! In the morning, before going to the beach, we asked for explanations and to speak with a manager; they told us not to worry and that they would resolve it. After about an hour they called us saying that it was not possible to fix it and asked if we wanted to move to another room, but within an hour at most because the room with the broken curtain had to be handed over to other poor wretches (whom I later saw complaining), so we had to go up, quickly, wet in the middle of the beach day to move all our things to another room. There were also other negative episodes like the porter who called us at 1 AM because he had lost his car keys or the fact that we were locked out of the room. At the end of the stay we received an apology letter, in which they explained the serious reason why the manager could not be present and they gave us a gift that we appreciated, but it must be said, not to speculate, that the damage was not compensated anyway because the days were ruined regardless and staying at this hotel costs quite a bit, 300 euros per night (among other things we chose a suite precisely to avoid having problems) and the fact of not even having had the possibility of letting a person who is eight months pregnant sleep is disrespectful. Cleanliness not up to 4-star standards!

Sorrento is amazing, the hotel is in a great location with it’s own beach, the rooms are very clean, however if you get room 301 or 302 you are above the tunnel on the main road, this is quite noisy at night as vehicles sound their horns coming round the corner. The staff are really friendly especially the cleaners and the sun bed staff. The food in the restaurant is hit and miss with some very good food and some mediocre. Sorrento itself is beautiful with amazing restaurants and bars. The major disappointment was when we checked out a 10am, to be told we had to pay for the beach, we weren’t getting picked up until 17:00, this is not good enough, and the receptionist who checked us out was very matter of fact and not very accommodating. Other than that we had a fantastic holiday, visits to Tico Tico and the crew bar, both just down from the hotel are a must, the food and service in both are excellent.

We spent 4 wonderful days in this hotel by the sea. We had a really great time: the location is splendid, a stone's throw from the beach, and the food was excellent, with dishes that were always tasty and prepared with care. A special thanks goes to the owners, who welcomed us with great kindness and helpfulness, making us feel at home. All the staff were also friendly and attentive. It was a truly pleasant vacation. We recommend this hotel to anyone who wants to relax, eat well, and feel warmly welcomed. We will definitely be back!
