L'Olivara

Wonderful place to stay — outside of the chaos of Sorrento, in a gorgeous garden and olive grove with a view down to the sea. Antonella is a garden artist and the place is just bursting with flowers and plants and fruit trees. The welcome is warm and the dinners home cooked and delicious. Hope to come again some day!

This was such a refreshing change from the busy town and overpriced hotels. While a car is a must if you plan on visiting any of the nearby sights, it's well worth it. We stayed for 5 nights, and took day trips to Pompeii, Capri, and even drove to the town of Amalfi and back in a single day (only 1.5 hours each way). The views over the Bay of Naples are spectacular, and the property itself is a feast for the eyes with flowers everywhere and mountains and olive groves. We managed to walk DOWN into town for supper (with a 7 yo old who hates walking in tow) and it usually only took about 20-25 minutes. Unless you are an avid walker/hiker, the trip back up the hill is best done by cab. Expect to pay about 20 euro. The rooms are small, as would be expected for a farm house, but tastefully decorated and quite comfortable. The hosts were exceptional. I felt very welcomed, and appreciated them very much. Don't expect food here, the hosts have jobs like the rest of us in addition to running the olive farming and allowing guests into their slice of paradise. Breakfast is best from the bakery 2 properties up the hill. Overall, I have nothing but praise, and would go back in a heartbeat. If you can manage the car rental and crazy Italian driving, then this place is a MUST.

This place is totally amazing! The hosts are very friendly and helpful, we got a lot of good advice from the lady Antonella, she's so lovely. The house is homely as it only has a few rooms, so you feel like family in this place. The garden is calm and beautiful and it has a very nice area for breakfast and for enjoying the view overlooking Sorrento. The home made breakfast is so delicious with fresh, yummy pastries and bread, plus good coffee and even fresh orange juice or fruits from the garden! The room was clean and well equipped, and they have free parking. It's easy to drive there even with a larger car, but in general I'd recommend a small car or a scooter in Sorrento area. This house is very well located, it's close to Sorrento and you will have an easy access to anywhere in Amalfi coast plus Pompeii and Naples, apparently also by bus. There are also good restaurants in walking distance, ask the hosts for tips. The dogs of the family are so friendly and cute, so this place is a perfect spot especially for animal lovers and those who enjoy peaceful and authentic places! We love this place and hope to be back there some day!
