Just come back from spending 5 nights at Villa Ketty at the end of our 18 day Italy adventure.
Booked this only a week before we travelled and grabbed the last room available as we decided looking at the Italy temperatures we needed somewhere with a pool.
When we arrived at Vico train station we rang Antonio , the owner, who sent someone to collect us. The driver collected us in a fiat 500 and our cases only just fitted in. We soon realised why it had to be a small car. Wow , the roads to Villa Ketty are very narrow and hairpin bends just like you see in the movies. It was great , the driver had to do a 3 point turn on the hairpin bends! Brilliant.
On arrival we were instantly wowed by the view across the bay of Naples and mount vesuvious.
Greeted by Antonio who showed us around and introduced us to some of the family & staff before showing us to our room.
As we booked the last available room we weren't too sure what we'd get. We booked a triple room which had a single bed downstairs and a bathroom with a small kitchen area, sink fridge & kettle. Upstairs lead to a mezzanine floor with a large comfy bed with a port hole style Seaview window.
Outside of the room was a large patioed area surrounded by fruit trees, figs, lemons, pomegranates, grapes, you name it. The view was straight out over the vico equense bay and view into town. Wow the sunsets were amazing.
Breakfast, what can I say. I don't think you'll get this kind of breakfast and service in many places. Breakfast is served in the kitchen where Antonio serves a selection of cheese, meats, breads, vegetables, tomatoe & burrata, quiches, flats, cakes, croissants, fruits, i could go on. There's loads to choose from and the majority is grown on site and they are very proud of that fact. I've never eaten so much for breakfast or so much cheese. There must have been 10-15 different cheeses!
Breakfast is eaten on the outside terrace overlooking the bay, what a view! Coffees, water and THE best orange juice I have ever tasted, all grown on site.
Pool area is on the same terrace but a little further along so having the same view. Honestly you could sit there all day it's amazing. Plenty of room for all guests and was never busy whilst we were there as there's so much to explore around the amalfi .
Vico equense is around a 15 minute walk from Villa Ketty up some steep stairs then follow the same winding road we came up in the car. It might be too much for people not great on their feet but Antonio has that covered as he or his staff offer a shuttle service to and from town if required. We never used it as we like the walk and the views.
Villa Ketty does offer a simple evening meal if you want to stay on site usually consisting of a pasta dish main , a starter and cake. Starters & mains usually priced around the 18€ mark and most food is grown on site so depending what vegetables are available depends on what's on offer for tea. We even watched Antonio making his own ravioli in the afternoon on the outdoor kitchen then sat and ate it for tea, that was nice.
Drinks are reasonably priced if you decide to stay on site and are added to your room and paid on check out.
As this is a family run resort you are made to feel at home and almost part of the family which feels great. All the staff are so helpful and friendly. It has a very laid back feel about the place and met so many other guests who we chatted to in the pool and on the terrace.
This place is an absolute haven and I couldn't recommend it enough.
Antonio and his family & staff work so hard to keep the place looking fantastic.
Dont think about it just book it, you won't regret it!
Thankyou Antonio for the memories and we'll be back 1 day for sure.
