Hotel Dafne

My husband and I, with two children aged 6 and 10, stayed for two nights in this three-star hotel with all the amenities of a 4-star. Fantastic experience, from the welcome of the extremely kind owners, to the spotless rooms; we were in the annex with a nice little garden, the room was equipped with every comfort, air conditioning, minibar, and was extremely clean. The hotel is equipped with a closed parking lot and a large swimming pool. Breakfast with a wide selection of sweet and savory items. Finally, something very important to us, they accept pets. Compliments on everything!

If I could give zero stars, I would give minus one. I must premise that this was, probably, the worst experience I have ever had in a hotel. I paid €500 for four nights. I'll start with the positive things: absolutely none. The negative things, on the other hand, are numerous: Sheets full of hair (of dubious origin...). Stains on the sheets and towels, which should have been clean. Remote control untouchable because of how dirty it was. Shower head full of limescale. Toilet with what looked like a menstrual blood stain (according to them it was a "red sticker"). Non-existent Internet connection. Shameful breakfast buffet. Unprofessional and grumpy staff. Reception practically non-existent. Uncomfortable bed and air conditioning with at least 8 inches of dust (the filters, obviously, I think had never been cleaned since the hotel opened). Dead gnats on top of the wardrobe. A mosquito squashed on the wall. Dirty desk. Dirty desk lamp. Shower so small that the bathroom flooded every time. Calling that a parking lot is a compliment: it's a hole. There was even a dog hair on the laminated rules. Total lack of information and communication from the staff. I wouldn't recommend this hotel even to my worst enemy. The room keys were literally within anyone's reach, without any security. Obviously, I complained about the presence of the hair around 1:00 PM. Their response was: "If there is hair, it means it's clean. Anyway, it's not our fault, but the laundry service's." We'll send someone at five." At 1:40 PM, however, I notice that there is a stain under the first layer of the sheet and that the bathroom towels are also stained. Poor hygiene is clearly evident here. I complain a second time and they respond in a surly manner. The lady even tells me: "I'm not going to keep going up and down." At that point, I turn to the son and ask him to come and see. The answer is always the same: "It's not up to us, also because those are clean stains." They assured me that they would change everything immediately, but that was not the case. I had to contact Booking, the platform through which I had booked, listing all the problems encountered. Only after about twenty minutes did both the son and the owner come up to the room. With a know-it-all and grumpy tone, I am told: "Now we are going to send photos to Booking too." I leave the room and wait for them to finish changing the sheets, without cleaning the bathroom, however. When I return, the "new" sheets also have stains on them. The son stops me and asks me where the alleged menstrual blood stain was. I show it to him and, with completely inappropriate irony, he replies: "That is a red sticker. It is impossible for a menstrual stain to reach that far. If you are not comfortable, we can even run tests." I only used the breakfast buffet once, even though I had paid for all four days, because it was inedible. There was practically nothing there and the portions were tiny. I repeat: I paid €520 for four nights and received terrible service from every point of view.

We spent 5 nights at the Hotel Dafne, and everything is impeccable. The room was spotless upon our arrival and clean every day thanks to the housekeeper's visit each morning. The breakfast was hearty and nothing was missing. Finally, the staff was very pleasant and welcoming. I highly recommend this hotel, you can book with your eyes closed.
