So what to say... a summary for the structure... a "colony" for those who know what memories to refer to.... little more than a hostel for younger people.... but without the same fun
Let's start with the facts
5 days 4 nights at the end of the year including New Year's Eve...3 Guests...2 adults and a boy of 15 years
Full pension
Required and paid 30 % deposit
We arrive at the property at 11.30 on the first day. I am told that the room is ready but check in is from 3pm.
Then I say we have lunch. No full board starts with dinner and ends with lunch on the last day... too bad they ask you to vacate the rooms enteo 10.
Absurd!
Then they ask me to settle the bill of the structure at check in without even seeing it and seeing the rooms. Absolutely not I refuse and after a short discussion with the manager they accept me to pay only half of the missing amount... being sure of their services... hahahahaha....
Anyway to make a long story short... restaurant little more than a company canteen... anonymous cold and poorly maintained bar... recently furnished rooms with cheap and essential furniture no closed wardrobes no chests of drawers and open bedside tables.... bathroom still from the 80s... old sanitary chipped tiles and absurd taps... in short, a little done somehow to have the 4 stars....ahahhahha
Chicca la Spa... free access.... says the website...ahahhahahahhha...actually only by reservation...only from 15 to 21...forbidden to children under 18 even if accompanied...and the most absurd thing of all that you can book 1 hour for a single room....ahahahahahh...with almost 100 rooms...practically impossible to access except during dinner hours...another paid service advertised and impossible to use unless a lucky cabal.
Finally at the restaurant.... I remember we are in a 4 star hotel... only hot water and wine.... I do not know why and only for a fee no pitcher.... full board souvenir...
Finally there would still be... but I hope to never come back here but in the end it ruined me to that the memory of the place... the only positive note the absurd heat in the rooms that did not let us sleep.... probably the result of a system too old and obsolete even if revised....
Be wary... be wary... choose something else... I really believed in a good value for money but here only the owner does..... the deal.
Hey, everybody.

I start by saying that a 4-star hotel was expected MUCH more.
Rude staff, non-existent organization, we had many problems. They tried to charge us for services already included, the dinner courses arrived after a lifetime, the New Year’s Eve dinner that was supposed to start at 19:30 started at 20:30, the appetizers arrived at 21, the first at 21:45/22 and the second arrived throughout the room at 22:30 while for us at 23:15 because “they had forgotten our table” (which is unlikely being a table of 17 people), the dinner cost 30 € per person, we are a family of 5 they charged us 8 people and charged 90 € more. The first night we ordered a wine, (it cost 21€, they put it at 26€) we drank not even half a bottle, the next night they did not want to give it back and charge us another. The examples could continue, our friends checked in at 5pm paid half board and risked having to pay for dinner separately because “they were wrong and thought they had no half board”. Many other similar events happened, I ordered a gin lemon and they brought me a gin and tonic, the elevator was broken and after 4 days it was still not fixed (three-storey hotel, there were moms with strollers doing up and down three floors) , gym with broken machinery, broken shower room, stained sheets, dirty corridor floors, chewing gum stuck under the TV and the examples could continue. Also when we were exposing the issues we heard the staff talking behind our backs.
Only positive note (which is why I put 2 stars instead of 1) the quality of the food which was quite high.

First time in Friuli, 5 last minute nights the week of August in Piancavallo, at the hotel BELLA ITALIA, formerly ANTARES, recently renovated and reopened in December 2024.
The renovation has concerned the furnishings of the rooms, simple and functional (supplied mini fridge, safe and smart TV justifying the 4 stars).. but not the bathrooms, with some inevitable mishap > washbasin and toilet seat dancers, sanitary and taps dated with signs of wear. Daily towel change and room cleaning sufficient.
The well-known grievances are related to the restaurant and the spa, both bad services.
CATERING: The menu proposed a choice between 2 types of pasta for both lunch and dinner for 4 days, and the cooking of pasta went from 'glue' to very al dente / raw, really unacceptable in Italy. The second involved the continuous use of frozen products (chicken chop, breaded plaice, mix vegetables, carrots, boiled croissants, with at most the addition of a little oil), overcooked chicken thighs and soggy cod. The vegetable buffet (tomatoes, salad and raw cabbage) has never changed in 5 days, the fruit basket sufficient (apples always, then kiwi 2 days, peaches 1 day and bananas too ripe 3 days), the dessert limited to portions of imitation tart, one day industrial cream caramel and the evening of mid-August ice cream cup algid .. at breakfast discreet variety of sweet and savory, nothing typical or particularly inviting, but everything a little '.
Note of merit to the kindness of Mrs. Laura, who took care of the table Service, always friendly and smiling despite everything.
WELLNESS CENTER: located in the basement with no exits to the garden, really unwelcoming environment with musty smell, old lockers and obsolete furniture, a sauna out of Service, a small sauna + steam room working, dirty jacuzzi far beyond the limit of decency, no herbal tea room, a cold 'chromatic' room with plastic relaxation beds. The DAY OF FERRAGOSTO gave us the icing on the cake: work in progress to obtain direct passage to the garage, calcinacci and plaster everywhere, tragicomic situation.
Also in the basement: unattractive miniclub, just a few tables with boxed games and colors + small equipped gym, which we did not use.
Reception Service in the norm, without infamy and without praise, courtesy and availability to solve the various mishaps complained of but little info on the proposals of the territory, with reference to the tourist info point (where you can find local guide for sale at 3 euros, but no free map). Another oddity is the payment request at check in, with the indication of direct payment to the restaurant and bar for drinks, coffee and extra services.
In Piancavallo in summer you are fine, walks of different difficulties, large free parking spaces, various initiatives for adults and children .. in general you notice that the best times are past, but also the attempt to regain ground with new hotels under construction and various recently renovated.
Very residential environment with countless chalets and private huts, especially in the beautiful area of Collalto, but the hotels seem more structured for the reception of large groups and sports clubs, compared to families and couples.
A round of applause to Bella Italia for the recovery of the Antares hotel, but the effort made was not adequate, it needs much more investment. The property is obviously not luxurious, but the value for money is not enough and requires greater attention to essential details that can make the difference.
