If you like dated decor, vomit left in the bedroom bin (and on the curtain) and a queue for the bathroom to rival the Vatican museum round the corner then this is the place for you! Make sure you do have your own towel if you do decide to brave the bathroom. Also have fun trying to keep the mouldy shower curtain from touching your skin as you wash, it takes a bit of skill but you'll get there. If you think the titanic is about to crash into your room at 3am fear not, that fog horn is actually the toilet flushing! Don't mistake this for a home, a hostel or even a B&B (unless you like 'air' for your breakfast). There was a kettle halfway up a book shelf in the hallway I noticed but any other kitchen facilities were non-existent which is a shame for those trying to save a bit of money. All that aside Max the host was very friendly and accommodating enough to let us check in 2 hrs earlier than originally planned. The location is great. If you're looking for a cheap drink there is a great little burger joint round the corner called Tommis that does a 2-4-1 happy hour.

My husband and I stayed here for 2 days in December. If you want something fancy, super comfortable and pretty, this is not the place. However, if you appreciate seeing a real old Italian building with old Italian decor, this is the place. We felt like we were staying at his grandma's place and we liked the experience. Yeah, furniture is old, but everything is super clean. Bathroom stayed clean (and he even leaves different types of shampoo and body wash), the bed looked old but it was super comfy and clean, bedroom was huge and had windows overlooking the street. He left couple snacks we took with us on our walk through Rome, and there is a big fridge you can use to put some groceries. We liked it :)

The location was great for the price, especially since its within walking distance to both the Vatican Museum and the Metro Line A. In terms of service though, breakfast consists of instant coffee and a bread snack, no milk or anything else! We had to buy our own since during our 5-day stay we only saw the owner once and had no way to contact him. The main phone by the door panel has no dial tone! It doesn't work. There's also no A/C except for a tiny old fan which doesn't help in the stifling Roman 100 degree summer heat. We did have the room to ourselves with free wifi despite of the shared bathroom. But on top of things, the doors and their annoying locks! It probably took me a little over half an hour to open the thing since it was old and requires a certain technique. Patience can easily fly out the window when you're tired, sweating and just want to get to your room with no one to help you. Overall, save yourself the trouble. It may be convenient in terms of location but I would rather have paid extra for better service and amenities than this!
