Arco Romano Rooms

I stayed at the Arco Romano Rooms in Rome for one day. This guest appartment is near the central railway station Termini. The historical centre can be reached in about 10-15 minutes by foot (Colosseo, Foro Romano). Access to the building is a bit difficult, you should really listen carefully to the host while she is explaining (better ask to show you how to open the gates with the key). The area in general is okay, however, after 9 pm it's not the best idea to walk around. The building itself is safe. Breakfast consists of different types of cookies and yogurt. You can make yourself coffee right in the kitchen, but cooking meals is not allowed. The host was really nice. She gave all the needed information about how to find them and where to find supermarkets and so on.

A 10 minute walk from Manzoni metro takes you to the apartment. It is situated in a complex on the first floor. The complex is surrounded by a gate, so you can only access the buildings with a key. The reception is not staffed, you will receive an email from the owner with instructions to enter. The room is clean and big enough for two people and two suitcases. The breakfast consists of pre-packed croissants and cookies, yoghurt and you can make coffee and tea. Overall a decent stay in this guesthouse.

Checking in was a challenge as our taxi driver struggled to find the building and then we couldn't get through the security gate. Thankfully an extremely nice local let us in and found somebody to check us in. Once we had keys we were off! The rooms are about 10/15 minutes walk from the Colosseum and they are surrounded by many reasonably priced bars and restaurants. About 10 minutes walk is the Metro which will take you into the city centre in under 5 minutes for 1€. Our room was very clean and comfortable and we enjoyed the help-yourself Italian style breakfasts. The room was serviced every few days and we literally didn't see any of the owners until our last day - although we could easily get hold of them if we needed to. On the day of checkout the owner found us and told us we were more than welcome to keep the keys and leave our luggage as our room wasn't required until the following day. Very thoughtful and very helpful. If you want a value base for your holiday I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this place.
