B&B Roof Garden Zaccardi

I'll start with the positives and then move on to the negatives. POSITIVES: My main need was to find a place to stay for work reasons that offered a comfortable bed and a private bathroom, expectations fully satisfied by this structure. Despite its small size, the single room was well equipped for a short stay, with every essential comfort including a small fridge and a lovely little terrace, which I found very pleasant. The presence of soaps and the daily towel change and room cleaning service enriched the experience, together with a welcoming family atmosphere that made my stay adequate to my needs. NEGATIVES: I noticed a stain on the mattress cover. It was definitely an old halo, but this however, it suggests the need to renew the linen to maintain a refined and welcoming image. I also noticed that the cleaning in the bathroom was not thorough, as demonstrated by the glass and floor of the shower which were never cleaned despite not being properly cleaned. The cleaning service needs to be more thorough. In the room I found a brochure with all the useful information, such as the wifi password and a 10% discount at the "La Carovana" restaurant which is located in front of the structure, but which turned out to be unusable as it was non-existent ( or obsolete). This information should be kept up to date. Finally, the hotel's location, although ideal for my work needs, may be less convenient for tourists, due to its distance from the main points of interest.

Room was nice but don't bother with the joint owned restaurant opposite, especially if you don't speak Italian. Waiter was rude, shoo'ed my friend as they struggled to understand each other (he was only asking for tap water) and brought out a 3 euro large bottle of sparkling water when we clearly said just a glass of tap water. The pizza was just cheesy bread (turns out, tomato pizza sauce is not a given here). We were supposed to get a 10% discount on the bill as we were staying at the hotel but the guy billing us didn't speak English and refused to apply it even though I proved we were staying there. We were supposed to get breakfast but the only guy who spoke English didn't know what we were talking about and said they never did breakfast. Didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned the breakfast voucher. It is further from Rome centre than you think. It was a 15 minute bus journey just to get to a metro line. We stayed elsewhere on the last day closer to Ciampino airport to save hassle catching our flight and, despite being much further away, it was still quicker to get to and from.

The B&B is on the fifth floor of an apartment building. The room was clean and neat, even had a balcony. For EUR42 including breakfast that was good. The breakfast turned out to be voucher for one of the nearby cafes. Cappuccino and croissant was ok to start the day. The location might not be perfect for tourists. There are buses, but no tram, metro or train station is close. If you have stuff to do in Portuense, great though. There are a few restaurants around for dinner. They have one across the road.
