Grand Plaza

Grand Hotel Plaza Rome is a beautiful historical building, but the service is completely unsuitable for 5 stars We stayed at the Grand Hotel Plaza Rome from the 6th to the 9th. The cost of accommodation was about 1,400 euros for 3 nights. We chose a five-star historic hotel in the centre of Rome and expected the appropriate level of service. Unfortunately, the experience was extremely disappointing. From the moment of check-in, it was surprising not to care for the guests. No one told us about the hotel services: terrace, gym and other possibilities. In a five-star hotel, these things must be explained to the guest at once. The first unpleasant impression continued at the bar. We got here about 20 minutes before closing time. Instead of hospitality, we were immediately informed that the closure was coming in such a tone that it felt like we were in the way rather than guests. A separate situation occurred with the clothing ironing service. Before going to the restaurant, we pre-prepared the shorts, filled out the hotel's special form and left everything on the bed as instructed. After cleaning the room, the bed was made, but the shorts, along with the completed form, were simply moved back. No one took them, stroked them or even told them that the service had not been performed. We ended up with unironed clothes before the evening exit. The iron in the room is also not provided, explaining that the building is historic. But if such a service is not available, the five-star hotel is obliged to provide a normal alternative. Cleaning the room is one of the biggest disappointments. Cleaning seemed to be just about making the bed. After the evening, there were empty bottles, a glass and a bathrobe on the balcony. Even after the subsequent clean-ups, everything remained in place. Photo 1: “The balcony after cleaning the room. It's little things like that that show the real level of service. Even a simple request in the evening to change towels proved to be a problem. For a five-star hotel, such basic things must be done without question. Room Service was also disappointing. We ordered a sandwich worth about 20 euros. For this price and in such a hotel you expect the appropriate quality and service. Instead, they got the simplest possible sandwich with minimal ingredients, which was completely out of line with the five-star hotel. Photo 3: “Room Service sandwich for about 20 euros at Hotel 5★.” The most unpleasant thing is not one case, but a general feeling of lack of control of the service: check-in, informing guests, bar, cleaning, laundry, Room Service - problems occurred at almost every stage. Grand Hotel Plaza Rome does have a beautiful history and interior. But five stars is not just marble, chandeliers and an ancient building. It is primarily service, attention to detail and attitude to guests. Our conclusion: the hotel sells a beautiful historical shell, but the level of service is absolutely not in line with five stars or the cost of 1,400 euros for three nights.

The hotel location is perfect, nearby the most important spots you would like to stop and see in Rome. It looks like being in old palace... I like it. The breakfast is excellent and the people their are kind and friendly especially Vergenia, she was nice and kind. I would recommend this place for visiting Rome. My advise to the hotel management is to take some steps to offer the coffee machines and tea tray in all rooms while it is 5 stars hotel.

The staff throughout the property ensured we had anything we needed and were very pleasant. They went the extra mile to coordinate logistics that enabled us to more thoughtful enjoy our vacation. The property is unique and well maintained. Definitely recommend.
