In March, I booked a room for July 4th and 5th, I received the regular official confirmation via email and felt at ease. At the end of June, just two weeks before the big concert by Ultimo (with 250,000 people expected and Rome practically sold out!), the hotel decided to unilaterally cancel my reservation.
Their excuse? A "system error" that sold me a day-use rate but was valid from July 4 to July 5. I am not a hotelier: if your site allows me to select two days and sends me the official confirmation, I trust it.
The manager had the audacity to call a 14-day notice for such an event "timely," refusing to take responsibility for the technical error and to honor the rate or find me an alternative. Moreover, while browsing through old reviews, I noticed that this "bug" has happened to other people as well.
Zero customer protection and very little professionalism in handling their own mistake. If you want to travel peacefully and not risk sleeping on the street at the last minute, I highly recommend looking elsewhere.
