Hotel Residence Mallia

The location is quite good and the facilities acceptable. Good the access to the gym next-door owned by Virgin for a 25 Euro fee. Forget about the breakfast, which is below average and the service is terrible. The staff is mostly incompetent and arrogant, especially this German lady who's "capo servizio". Stefano is the only one with some knowledge and kind enough to help you. The garage is in terrible conditions with pools of water and water dripping from the ceiling. There are many hotels in Rome, move on.

Location is poor its not walkable in the heat to the vatican city, you have to catch either the bus or train which is an experience in itself. The staff were ok but could have been better. The breakfast was 18 euros for a continental buffet and the family member I went with ended up ill from it. The pool was closed and people staying all complained because we needed to unwind after a busy day sightseeing and it was the reason why we chose this hotel. It then opened but you had to book an hours slot which is ridiculous especially when out and about and waiting for buses. There is nothing really nearby shop wise and only 1 restaurant where the staff where rude. The rooms where ok.

Very nice establishment located on a height of Rome, a little on the outskirts, but there is Roma Balduina metro station right next door. The studios are large and functional. Right next door there is the (beautiful) gym (+ swimming pool, sauna...) Virgin Active Roma Balduina, and being a guest of the hotel allows you to access it with a 10€ discount (i.e. 25€ entry, which is still quite expensive but the whole is top). The aparthotel team is welcoming, professional and full of good advice. Just 2 small flats: breakfast is a bit expensive (20€ / person, but you don't have to take it every day because you can prepare it in the studio); the soundproofing is low between floors and you can hear people above moving a table, a chair.... This is a structural problem in the building, but could be mitigated by putting felts under furniture that could be moved. That being said, if you don't have insomniacs moving a chair in the middle of the night, you won't mind...
