Meltin' Rome Guesthouse

The pictures are definitely not up to date, they are from much better days. The area was not nice, despite the central location. The bathrooms were anything but clean, more like a public toilet, and the rooms were sparsely and carelessly furnished. Cancellation was also not possible. We left without staying there. Of course, the money was gone, but we didn't care at first.

Proudly diaplyed is a Trip Advisor certificate of excellence from 2011. Safe to say things have gone downhill since then. In general rooms were clean and reasonably well appointed. However decor in general was tired - a lot more could be done with this place. It is not a hotel - it very clearly is an apartment which has been modified to become guest bedrooms. No on site staff at all, however staff were around and about during the day on and off. I stayed in the one room which has a private bathroom and shower - you can't flush toilet paper down the toilet which isn't ideal. Lacking in plug sockets in general. One plug socket in the room was held to the wall with parcel tape - inherently unsafe I have to say. Bathroom ceiling has mould growing in the corner above the shower - probably due to inadequate ventilation. Bed was clean, comfortable and changed every other day. Only one pillow per side without any additional pillows available. Location was good - everywhere you would want to go is within roughly an hours walk. All in all OK, but not sure I would stay here again.

It was especially hot when we arrived Rome. Locals say during this time around rain is expected. But the whole time we were there, it never rained. So, going back to the portable aircon, it will not be an issue if it had rained. Even during the night, it was hot. We had to sacrifice opening the windows - our room facing the road, where noise is much louder as compared to closed windows. We were so tired from touring the city that we fell asleep ignoring these issues and woke up the next day sweating. So far that is the only downside. The room was spacious and clean, including the hallway. There were electric kettles and cups that you can use, also reading materials about the city and stuff. Candies were also free. It was not a crowded noisy apartment or maybe other guests were still asleep. Wifi has good connection although tv was not working at that time. Distance is i think 4-5 blocks away from Termini station but you pass by a mall first and this has easy connection to train and metro underground.
