Hotel located at the entrance of Diano Marina.
Large and clean rooms, excellent breakfast, excellent choice at meals (always 4 courses and always varied), hotel pool and very large private sandy beach.
An excellent solution that perhaps deserves an extra star.
A small note: the somewhat strict hours for lunch and dinner... but it is understandable in order to be able to serve many people well and on time... and they do it well.
Well done... I will recommend it.

Everything always beautiful. Beach, sea, air, rooms, breakfast, lunch, and dinner are the best. Super relaxing pool and hot tub. Everyone was kind and the owners were very sweet. Every year even more so.....

We were at Hotel Splendid in Diano Marina at the end of August as a family of four and had a family room. Overall, we can definitely recommend the hotel and were satisfied with our stay.
Room:
Our family room was pleasantly spacious and well-furnished. The bathroom was modern and functional. Air conditioning was available, which did make slight noises, but that was absolutely tolerable for us. The very large balcony was particularly positive. German-language TV channels were also available. A small refrigerator offered space for a few 0.5-liter water bottles and cans, which was perfectly sufficient for us.
Breakfast and restaurant:
The breakfast was absolutely fine for us. Everything you would expect was available: Fruit, various cold cuts, cheese, Nutella, and of course coffee. The coffee also tasted good to us.
The food in the restaurant was a real highlight overall. The quality was really very good and tasted excellent to us. The selection was also sufficient and varied.
A small note regarding pricing: Lunch or dinner is charged at a flat rate of 25 euros per person per menu. However, when we had already booked in March, it was not possible at all to book half or full board as well. Therefore, we had initially only booked overnight stay with breakfast.
If you add the meals on-site for four people, i.e., 25 euros each per person for lunch and dinner, you would come to an additional surcharge of around 1,400 euros for seven days. The breakfast already paid for at the time of booking is, of course, not included in this amount. Drinks are also added separately.
We personally felt this additional amount for lunch and dinner was a bit high, even if the quality of the food is really very good. You should inform yourself about the additional costs here before booking or on-site.
Service and staff:
We found the entire staff to be extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. This was consistently positive throughout our entire stay and, in our view, deserves explicit praise.
Pool and hotel grounds:
The pool area was clean and nicely designed. We also found the drink prices at the hotel bar to be perfectly fine, in some cases even surprisingly affordable. An Aperol Spritz, for example, costs 5 euros.
Beach:
It is about 200 meters to the hotel's own beach section, so it is really very easy to reach. The beach was clean and consists mainly of fine gravel, with a pleasant sand mixture in the back area. The water was very clean.
The staff at the beach section belonging to the hotel was also very friendly and helpful. The food and selection at the beach were also good and sufficient.
However, one point bothered us a little: An Aperol Spritz costs 9 euros at the beach, while it only costs 5 euros at the hotel bar. We personally felt this price difference was a bit too high.
A positive aspect, however, is that you receive a small tagliere or antipasti platter in addition when ordering an Aperol Spritz outside of regular meal times. While that is certainly common in Italy, it is still a nice detail.
Parking options:
Parking spaces are available and free of charge, although some are quite tight. Nevertheless, that is a clear plus point. Additionally, there is an underground garage for 10 euros per day, which we also felt was fair.
Bicycles and surroundings:
The hotel offers free rental bicycles. Furthermore, electric bicycles can be rented for 10 euros per day or 5 euros for a half day. We also find that to be absolutely reasonable in terms of price.
It is about a 20–25 minute walk to the center of Diano Marina. You can reach San Bartolomeo on foot in about 15 minutes. The surrounding area is excellent to explore by bicycle. There are beautiful bike paths that connect the various towns and make cycling very pleasant.
Anyone in the area should definitely plan a trip to Cervo. The town belongs to the "I Borghi più belli d'Italia" and is, in our view, definitely worth a visit.
Our conclusion:
For a three-star hotel, the Hotel Splendid is not exactly cheap by Italian standards. However, I had the impression that the hotels in the immediate vicinity are also priced similarly; presumably, this is simply due to the Liguria region.
For comparison: Last year, we paid 2,800 euros for a week with full board in a four-star hotel in Rimini. Drinks were even included. If you factor in the additional costs for meals at the Hotel Splendid, there is definitely a difference in price.
Nevertheless, for us: If the service, the quality of the food, the cleanliness, and the overall impression are right, you are happy to spend the money. And that was largely the case during our stay at the Hotel Splendid.
Overall, we can therefore recommend the hotel. We will especially remember the very friendly and helpful staff, the excellent food, the clean pool area, the good location, and the proximity to the beach.
A few small things could certainly be improved; in particular, one should inform oneself about the options and costs of the meals before booking. Overall, however, we felt very comfortable as a family and would consider the hotel again.
