Many different comments...first of all have to thanks the staff that was very helpful and polite. Rooms are clean but the furniture is quite old...bathroom is shared but it was very clean. Apartments are not in the village but you can reach them with 10 min walk and many steps...

This building is a safety and health hazard. We had an "ensuite" that was actually a bedroom in a townhouse. Turned out the people in the living room had been using our bathroom until we locked the door. You have to pass through another persons kitchen to get to the "ensuite". We were five girls traveling together. The space was a bit tight and the worst part was the noise from the room next door. I could hear every kick, snort, fart, and burp from the neighbors! The only reason this place has any stars is because it's close to the dock/waters. The steps down to the water are super sketchy. Do not book this hotel if you can't go up and down steep ladder stairs. The entrance by the water to the hotel was not secure at all as the window pane was completely shattered. Would never recommend this place to anyone! The reception couple was nice. The owner is rude.

I had some difficulty with this property as I booked the wrong dates online and had to communicate with them to amend the booking. Unfortunately, despite my numerous attempts, it was impossible to sync up with the property prior to my arrival and I ended up changing my travel plans to match what I had incorrectly booked. This actually worked out in my favour since Riomaggiore is beautiful (my favourite of the 5 cities in Cinque Terre) and we stayed longer than I had planned for! We arrived on the tails of a train strike and so upon arrival were asked if we wouldn't mind staying in a 4 person dorm room (when I had booked a private) for the first night if we were upgraded to a suite with a nicer view for our second and third nights. We agreed, and I'm so glad we did! While the 4 person dorm room was comfortable (kitchenette, close to the beach and restaurants, air conditioning) the double private room that followed had a balcony with a gorgeous view, was spacious, and pristine. All of the rooms that we stayed in were expertly cleaned and comfortable and we were very pleased with both. If you want a view in this city, be prepared to walk up flights and flights of stairs as the views come with a climb up the side of the mountain. Don't bring rolling luggage as you'll have a tough time with the steep steps. The owners were lovely and very accommodating (once we arrived), as were the cleaning staff. The rooms were ready early and we were grateful for the early check-in. The price was more than fair. I would recommend this property with the caveat, "know what you book." The service rents properties dispersed throughout Riomaggiore and so you could have a room close to the marina or restaurants which has an ideal location but less of a view, or you could get an apartment high up the mountain. Be sure when booking you pick the amenities that you need. Also, be sure to double check your dates before you book because changing or cancelling is near to impossible with this property. As they state in their confirmation email "do not book if you don't think you can make it." Also, Riomaggiore is so beautiful that I think you'd be hard pressed to find an unsatisfying room. All you have to do is walk outside and you can't help but smile.
