Michela Rooms

The room itself could have been magical like the charming town of Vernazza but the man and woman that manage this business could care less about anything short of taking your money. I made reservations 1 year in advance and followed up a month before arriving...confirmation was made both times via email. Upon arrival I tried emailing and called the owners to help us locate the room. No reply was ever made nor did anyone answer our phone calls. We asked around for directions and were helped by some kind owners of a pizza cafe. Finally with their help in speaking Italian Michela (owner) answered and promptly told us they had no reservations for us for 3 nights. I read email back to her...after much chaos she said the room was open and key was on table so once again another trip up the many stairs just to find a locked door. Another call and she said she would come to us. This was 5:00PM...she showed up all smiles like nothing had gone terribly wrong, grabbed a small bag of ours to help carry up again the many stairs leaving us with everything else. Exhausted we arrived to what we thought would finally be a place to relax and find some peace. What we got was a dirty room! Bed was a mess, wet towels and garbage. She immediately showed us the small balcony and told us to sit and relax someone was coming to clean room. She promptly left, we sat exhausted and waited 30 minutes later we decided to go down and get something to eat. After eating I went back up and found a man cleaning the room. This was Giuliani the same guy I had made reservations with...he was frantically trying to clean the room said a little longer. This was 7:00PM! We waited close to an hour went up to find him needing to still get us towels but almost done he says. It was 8:00PM when we were finally able to lay down on a clean bed. He had not replenished the basket of tea/coffee leaving us with just one coffee, after the second day we had run out of toilet paper and called to request more and fresh towels. Someone delivered late in the day toilet paper. There was simply no communication nor care for their paying guests. As frustrating as this entire ordeal was checking out 3 days later was worse. I assign some guilt to myself for not insisting on knowing the room price ahead of time...not that i did not ask originally. After not hearing from anyone on how to check out I called Michela and she said someone would be at the room when we check out. I also asked for balance and if we were getting a discount due to the mess when checking in. She was not sure but said 120 euro she would charge. So on the fourth morning we left the room at 9:30 calling to ask where someone, anyone was. Giuliani showed up requesting we go back up to room so his card machine could work on WIFI. He slammed some numbers in the machine and said sign here. I looked at it and it said 560 euro! I told him Michela had told me 120 per night, he started yelling Impossible!!! I refused to sign anything then he slammed in more numbers and came up with 390 euro at first i said no and then he went off screaming about calling the police. I told him to calm down (i felt like calling the police) I agreed to sign for the 390 because i was frightened by him. I left immediately with him still spitting. All of this was so unnecessary. It truly was a beautiful room but these two people robbed it of all the magic. They need to be called out for their arrogance and total lack of respect for the very people that pay for a roof over their heads! We still love Italy and all the kind people in Vernazza, Grazie Mille!

Beautiful view on small deck. Nice room - comfortable bed - firm pillow. Stayed two nights would have preferred towels changed - otherwise it was a great location with good service. Rate was reasonable for a room with ocean view.

The studio was perfect for us as far as having a place to sleep and being close to a wonderful café, restaurant and wine tasting room. The bed was also very comfortable. However there were a few things I would comment on. First of all, the picture on the internet showing an outdoor patio is not part of the studio. There is no outdoor patio/seating area. The kitchen does not come equipped with much, not even paper towels. So those were the minuses. But we came to explore the cities and they were beyond beautiful so the studio with the comfy bed was really just fine for us.
