Hotel Baia

I would strongly recommend choosing another hotel. This was not one isolated misunderstanding. During our stay, we had more than one experience where the staff came across as rude, dismissive, and unwelcoming. The breakfast incident was simply the final straw. My wife took some breakfast food with her. If the hotel has a rule that breakfast food cannot leave the dining area, that is completely fair. A professional hotel would simply explain that rule politely. Instead, the staff member became confrontational. She told us, “This is not a supermarket,” said, “We are not a charity,” and used vulgar Italian profanity toward us that roughly translates to “you have really pissed us off” or “you have really been a pain in the ass.” She then told me she would charge our room for another breakfast. The extra charge was not the real issue. The issue was the way we were treated. Hospitality means making guests feel welcome, even when you need to enforce a rule. Speaking to paying guests with profanity, sarcasm, and disrespect is unacceptable. What made this worse is that this was not the first time during our stay that we felt the staff was rude. By the end, we felt more like an inconvenience than guests. A beautiful location cannot make up for poor hospitality.

we stayed 3 nights in September. The hotel is located at end of the beautiful Monterosso beach, they have a private beach area with rental chairs, 2 for $20. Room was clean. Breakfast was standard. The lady at the front desk, Lory, was very rude with all the customers. I experienced this insulting behavior all three days I was there. It is not acceptable, even if the hotel is in a nice location.

Nothing to say about the location, and nothing to say about the wiew. BUT the staff, and the service…..we have never experienced worse! At first they denied us to Check in as we had a late arrival. We lost our prepaid first night, and were forced to book a night in another hotel. We had lots of email communication with the reception, and never once we felt welcome! We asked for a confirmation, that we could arrive early next morning and Check in and leave our luggage in our prepaid room -we got that, but werent welcome a minute before 9 o’clock in the morning. We couldnt believe this behavior. When we arrived, they didnt have our room ready (they had other costumers there…), and they wouldnt take care of our personal belongings….we needed to buy this service somewhere Else!!! The absolute worst service ever. The breakfast did not open before 8 in the morning, so early birds going for early hike, needed to find breakfast other places. We did make a complain to our travel agent, who is dealing with this to the other agents! Its a big shame, because this hotel could have been soooo good!! Read other reviews here before booking…we are not the first, and unfortunately not the last dealing with those people!
