Casa Colleverde

At first sight, this looks like a beautiful house in a great and peaceful location. Just before our arrival, we received a call from the owner informing us that we had been given a free room upgrade. Although this was presented as a complimentary upgrade, it became obvious to us that the reason was that the air conditioning in the room we had originally booked was not functioning properly. Upon arrival, we were warmly welcomed by Manuela, who was very friendly and helpful throughout our stay. Unfortunately, things changed quickly. On our first evening, we noticed that the air conditioning in our room was not functioning properly, resulting in an extremely uncomfortable and sleepless night. We reported the issue to the owners, who said they would look into it. Unfortunately, the situation was exactly the same the following night, with the room remaining uncomfortably hot and the AC still not working properly. We therefore discussed the situation with the owner’s wife and proposed a reasonable compensation for the inconvenience. That was when the owner’s husband, Matteo, became involved. Instead of trying to find a constructive solution, he became defensive and dismissive. He insisted that the AC was working, argued that air conditioning is not something commonly available in Italy, and essentially suggested that the problem was not his responsibility. What happened next was completely unexpected and, in our opinion, unacceptable. We had been willing to stay for the remainder of our planned holiday because we actually liked the house and its location. However, when it became clear that we could not reach an agreement, Matteo told us to leave the property immediately and threatened to call the police if we did not. We were therefore forced to pack our belongings and leave, cutting our stay short. We were refunded for the two nights we were no longer allowed to stay, and Matteo personally accompanied us to our car. Being told to leave and being threatened with the police simply because we raised a legitimate concern about a basic amenity was an extremely unpleasant and disappointing experience. We have travelled extensively and have never experienced such an aggressive and arrogant reaction from an accommodation owner. A special mention to Manuela, who was genuinely welcoming and friendly and served us a lovely breakfast every morning. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we cannot recommend booking this accommodation. The house itself may be beautiful, but the way guests are treated when something goes wrong is, in our opinion, far more important. You simply never know when your holiday might be abruptly brought to an end.

Beautifully located luxury small hotel. The room is modern and nicely decorated, good bed, nice rain shower, enough closet space, terrace / balcony and air conditioning. Very well clean. Enough towels daily change. Kitchen for use guests. You can cook, use oven ertc. Useful if you don’t feel like going out at night. Coffee tea for free. Breakfast in kitchen and also outdoor seating with beautiful sea and mountain views. Swimming pool with sun loungers. Lounge set in shade. Porch. For colder days inside comfortable room with fireplace and seating. Breakfast is very extensive cheese, sausage, sweet, cake, egg made on request. Fresh fruit, yogurt etc. Very extensive. Hostess Manuela is very friendly and service oriented. Earlier breakfast on departure was no problem. In short: a perfect address for a nice, luxurious, small-scale holiday. We hope to go back!! Near restaurant Taberna definitely try: fantastic dinner there.

The Casa is relatively remote (therefore a great view of the Ligurian Sea). We only drove down once a day as the access road is very bumpy. Manuela was a great hostess (freshly baked cake for breakfast) . Our stay was very nice and private as we only had to share the Casa with 2 other guests. Very negative were unfortunately the poor barking dogs, which a hunter keeps in a shelter and gets these out only occasionally for hunting, as we are very animal-loving, we could only sleep at night with the window closed, very bad !
