Palazzo Arzaga Hotel Spa & Golf Resort

Unfortunately, an overall disappointing experience for a 5-star hotel. Especially important as a note for future guests: Anyone who books a room without spa access apparently also has no access to any of the pools. That was by no means clearly evident to us when booking via Booking.com. At a hotel of this category, we would have at least expected such a significant restriction to be communicated very clearly. The handling of the situation afterward was particularly disappointing. We asked politely if we could at least use a pool briefly for about 30 minutes. That was also categorically refused unless we paid the full daily rate for spa access. This is also significantly more expensive than the spa surcharge that one could have paid when originally booking the room. Booking the cheaper rate retroactively was also not possible. Here we would have expected significantly more flexibility and customer orientation from a 5-star hotel. The whole thing weighs even more heavily because there is practically no sensible alternative in the hotel to spend time outside or simply spend some time in the sun. Without spa access, one apparently cannot even lie down or relax anywhere reasonably outside. Thus, in nice weather, surprisingly little of the actual hotel offering remains for one. The room itself also could not meet the standards of an establishment of this category from our perspective. The furnishings appear partially outdated, and the exceptionally small window in particular was difficult to understand for a superior room. As a result, the room seemed rather dark and not very spacious.

Beautiful location. Excellent services. Many "tubs" and environments in which to relax. It is useful to book the experience in advance so as not to risk not being able to enter once you arrive. Aperitif very well stocked and good. The only flaw: you can/must do it in a bathrobe and not dressed; if you are still wet or damp, it could be annoying while eating and drinking.

Unfortunately, my stay was very disappointing. The room was dark, had very small windows, and felt more like a basement room. The furniture and equipment were old and worn out, definitely not what you would expect from a five-star hotel. The reception staff were unhelpful, and the service in the club restaurant also left a lot to be desired. The breakfast was poor, with very limited choice. In my opinion, the overall standard of this hotel does not match a five-star rating. The only positive aspect was the golf course, which was very well maintained and definitely worth playing.
