Don Abbondio

Very disappointing experience We had booked this hotel for a family holiday, but unfortunately our son of 1 year unexpectedly ended up in intensive care in Italy. Of course we had to cut short/cancel our trip immediately. We informed the hotel immediately and explained the medical emergency in detail. What has disappointed us most is the complete lack of understanding and leniency. Despite the exceptional circumstances and the fact that it was a serious medical emergency of a baby, we were not offered any compensation or (partial) reimbursement. I understand that hotels have cancellation policies, but in such exceptional situations you expect at least empathy and a willingness to think along. The communication felt very impersonal and little involved. Based on this experience, we would not book this hotel again and recommend that other travellers look closely at the flexibility and customer friendliness of the hotel in the event of unexpected emergencies.

We stayed at this property, we had a great time, friendly and welcoming owners made us feel at home, the hotel has a great location and is very quiet. Greetings from Carolina and Franco

The evocative name of the hotel and the photos on the site caught my attention but Don Abbondio there, in that place, would never have slept: very choreographic exterior because the hotel is located near the river, non-existent reception, at some point from the darkness that had welcomed us at the entrance, along with a stale smell appears, as if by magic, a very kind lady who, after carrying out the practice of documents, indicates the number of our room (I was with a friend) placed on the second floor WITHOUT ELEVATOR!! With sadness and fatigue for the heaviness of the trolleys we reach the goal and surprise?? A nauseating smell of "sewer" surrounds us and introduces us into a small room with carpet, dirty and broken wallpaper, a couple of cobwebs on the ceiling and bathroom without bidet and of course without window, without a glass and no fridge. The bed was comfortable, the sheets clean and a balcony gave a glimpse of the beautiful view of the lakefront, too little to give it more than one star
