Atahotel Fieramilano

I visited this hotel for Micam Fair, because it was fairly close to the fair and looked somewhat better than the other hotels I had looked at. And first of let me tell you something if you going here expecting a 4 star hotel think again because this hotel is old and is in disparate need of renovation. The only scenario in which I can think of that I can recommend this hotel to you is that you’re solely visiting Milan for the exhibition and just need a place close by to sleep at. And in that case this hotel does the job. A positive note I will mention is that free breakfast is included so you don’t need to spend time looking around for a place to eat in the early morning before heading to the fair.

A truly vast hotel situated in Pero, an industrial commercial area on the outskirts of Milan. The rooms are a good size, nicely furnished with a modern bathroom ensuite, an outside balcony and comfortable beds. We chose it to be near the exhibition centre, and the hotel had a shuttle bus to the venue. This is essentially a business hotel. For such a large hotel there is only one restaurant and one bar, though breakfast is served in another room. The restaurant food is good and a reasonable choice on the menu. If it is full, service is patchy. We had to wave our arms about to get our order taken. The breakfast offering is varied and good. I've rated this hotel as average rather than good, largely because of the staff. For a hotel of this size it seems understaffed and Reception is one example, with delays both checking in and out. Prepare to be patient. If you do not speak Italian the staff attitude is not particularly friendly, sad to say. This detracts from the guest experience. So choose this hotel if you want to be near the Expo Fiera, but do not expect to be made to feel particularly welcome.

Traveling with company.. rooms weren’t ready so we were offered a glass of free drink each at the bar. After 30mins, we got our rooms, changed, called for food delivery since hotel doesn’t have a lot of options plus they stop serving anything around midnight. Food came, ate, went back to bar. Bartender was very rude. Was refused to be served glasses of wine because he thought we were asking for more free drinks. He says “absolutely not possible.” Politely asked whether the bar was closed. The other bartender said no. So asked again why we were being refused to be served. Dawned on me that it might be because they thought we were asking for free drinks. Talked to the other bartender & told him that we’re actually ordering & paying for the drinks so he explained to the other guy & rude bartender just says “oh.” No apology, no nothing. The rooms are good but can’t patronize places where people seem to hate their jobs & it’s manifesting through their service. Bear in mind, my company are in the hospitality industry as well so we were polite the whole time this was happening. One more thing, 2 female professionals from our group went to get access card for the lounge & male receptionist said “Why don’t you come to MY room instead?” Just horrible.
