Canova Hotel

The hotel is situated very close to the central station, so the metro is only a one minute walk away. Therefore great to get to all parts of Milan and trains out of Milan. The hotel was nice and clean and the bed comfortable. Our shower had water coming out of the bathroom door and into the corridor which was not great, but the shower was a large walk in shower and powerful. You can pay for breakfast, but we did not chose to as so close to the train station with lots of options for food. There are lockers to leave your luggage in if you arrive before check in or want to leave after check out which was handy and safe.

I visited this hotel during the busy Lineapelle/Micam exhibition period at Rho Fiera. Rooms are always a premium during this time, and I made the mistake of booking late. I paid £382 for 2 nights, without breakfast. As you can see in my photo, the second floor corridor is very shabby, at some stage in decoration/renovation. The room, on first glance, was acceptable. Clean bed, clean bathroom and a typical size for a European city centre hotel room. My shower was broken, with the shower head attached with a cable tie. However, water was hot and pressure decent. Bathroom and towels were clean. I’m quite noise sensitive, and conversations in the hallway and adjacent rooms are very clear to hear. On the second morning, I could hear a lot of chat from the neighbouring room. When I left the room, I could see it was actually the housekeeping’s staff. One lady was working whilst the other lady was sat in the chair having a chat. It was all just a bit noisy and inconsiderate at 745am in a morning. The location is great, so near central station and Republica, making public transportation a breeze. There were also various food options of all budgets, open late, on the surrounding street. The hotel has a few positives, but really needs to tidy the scruffy corridors and maybe make some effort to reduce noise. Temporary fixes to showers with cable ties (room 126) really aren’t acceptable. If I was paying £100 a night, I wouldn’t care. Closer to £200 a night and I have a big problem with what’s being delivered, fair period or no fair period.

Excellent location, excellent breakfast, clean and cozy room, prices appropriate for the now very expensive Milan. Kind staff. I recommend it to everyone, also given the strategic location.
