Hotel Astrid

On the outside this place looks like a typical old folks run hotel with old furniture, clean room and linen etc. There is a strong vanilla spray in the lobby giving you a shady feeling, the smoke smell adds to it and the lipstick/nailpolish stains on the wall near the door lock gives an icing on the cake. If you end up facing the street, be prepared to stay up late as the noise from the bus stop and sweeping machine will keep you awake. Spoke to locals, who confirmed that there are some establishments who rent by the hour, but could not confirm if this place was one of them. We did not hear anything or witness any form of prostitution, but the vibe was strong enough to give us a sleepless night. Had an uncomfortable vibe. We got the fish out of there after staying there for a night. Dont fall for the cheap tag, spend more and stay in a hotel of your comfort.

Very nice, one of the best 2* hotel. Good located, near the metro station. Very clean. If you will have a breakfast, the lady who is working there is amazing, she doesn't speak english, but she understood exactly what we want and did she's best.

In a sketchy neighborhood (saw a prostitute waiting around right outside the hotel). Entire place reeks of cigarettes, from the lobby to the rooms. Ironic that the rooms have "no smoking" signs. They use some sort of offensive musky spray to cover it up which makes it even worse. Woke up with a sore throat because it was so strong. The bathroom is small and the toilet crammed so close to the shower that you have to sit sideways. Mildew in the shower. Avoided breakfast because they had the same sad croissants sitting there for probably 2 days absorbing all the smells of the lobby. The bedspread had stains, which one of the staff members did change for us, but it was awkward to have to point it out. Also heard lots of loud yelling and arguing in the hallway at all hours, from late night to early morning. The next day we asked about the smell and the heavy-set man at the front desk became instantly defensive and belligerent. He also revealed that he had tried to run our credit card through (without our permission - we had been told we could pay at checkout both by the other receptionist and by our deal on the booking site we used). We tried to have a reasonable adult conversation with him, to possibly just pay for our one night stay and leave, but he told us to get out and he'd still charge us for the additional night. Thankfully, we contacted our booking site as a mediator and they got the hotel to charge for the amount of time we actually stayed and no more. Made sure to pay that in CASH because I wouldn't trust these people with my credit card. Read too many reviews of added "authorization" charges and double charging. Avoid the headache and stay elsewhere. This place is a complete dump.
