Hotel Milano Scala

Our second time at the Milano Scala and we felt as comfortable as the first time. Very good room, cleanliness. The breakfast was very complete and accompanied by the soft music of the lady who plays the harp. All the reception staff are very attentive and speak several languages. We will return to Milan and the Scala.

Policy for admission to a discriminating and absurd aperitif on the terrace. They only confirm you in the last week and if a nice group arrives, the individuals download them even if you have a confirmation. If you booked by email, they don't even write to you. They try to call you a couple of times and if you don't answer for 1000 reasons (because you think of a spam number or are busy) your reservation is cancelled. That's bad.

Very disappointed. We booked a two level expensive suite which looked beautiful but was actually cramped and uncomfortable. There were 14 steps from one level to the next which were difficult and exhausting to navigate. The upstairs bedroom area was so cramped that after I opened my suitcase that left no room on the landing and I worried I might fall down the stairs. Hotel staff were worse than useless telling us to walk in the opposite direction of the Duomo, the major Milan attraction, causing us to get hopelessly lost on our first day. The hotel staff actually told us there were no available tours to the Duomo or Lake Como during our 7 night stay but I quickly found on my own lots of great tours to these sights during our stay. There was no place in the hotel to just relax and get out of the cramped room as their front lobby area was narrow and unfriendly.
