The Hub Hotel

We are staying at The Hub Hotel Milan from 7 August to 9 August 2026, and unfortunately, our experience from the very first day has been extremely disappointing. When we were given room 914 on 7 August, we turned on the air conditioning and noticed that water was leaking badly from the ceiling. This caused water to get onto the floor and made the bathroom area slippery. This was a serious health and safety concern, as I was nearly about to slip when I first entered the bathroom. In my opinion, rooms should be properly inspected before being handed over to guests, especially for issues that could potentially cause an accident. We immediately reported the problem to reception at around 2:30 pm. The male receptionist was helpful initially and offered to upgrade us to another room. However, we asked whether the existing room could be repaired and whether something complimentary could be offered because of the inconvenience. He explained that repairing the room would take some time and said that something complimentary could be offered. Later, at around 4–5 pm, we went back to reception to collect the key card for the upgraded room. At this point, a female receptionist told us that she could not offer us anything complimentary and that we would have to speak to the manager, who was not at the hotel. This was frustrating because we had already discussed the matter with the previous receptionist and had been told something complimentary could be arranged. We specifically asked about using the spa as a gesture of goodwill, but this was not arranged or offered, and we were simply told to speak to the manager. Unfortunately, the communication from the staff was inconsistent. We also had difficulty getting clear information about the hotel’s free shuttle bus to the city. When we checked in, we were told that there was a free bus service and were given information about the timings. However, when we later spoke to the female receptionist and asked how to get into the city and which bus we should take, we were told that the hotel shuttle had to be pre-booked. Nobody had clearly explained this requirement to us beforehand, so we ended up wasting a considerable amount of time trying to work out the transport. We were also disappointed with the way the female receptionist dealt with us when we were simply asking for help and trying to understand how to get into the city. Her attitude came across as quite unfriendly and unhelpful, which made an already frustrating situation even worse. After moving to the upgraded room 919, we unfortunately experienced another problem. The toilet would continue running for a long time after flushing and made a loud, continuous noise. This happened repeatedly and disturbed our sleep. It was disappointing to move rooms because of one problem, only to find another maintenance issue in the replacement room. Overall, we expected much better from a hotel of this standard. Within our first day alone, we experienced a water leak from the ceiling, a potential slipping hazard, problems with the toilet, disturbed sleep, inconsistent information about the shuttle service and poor communication regarding the compensation that was initially discussed. The main issue for us is that these problems should have been identified before the rooms were handed over to guests. Health and safety should be a priority, particularly when there is water leaking onto the floor and creating a potential slipping hazard. We hope the hotel takes this feedback seriously and improves its room inspection procedures, maintenance, communication between staff and customer service. We came here expecting a comfortable stay, but unfortunately our first day has been much more stressful and disappointing than it should have been.
