Grand Hotel Astoria Lavarone

We stayed at the Grand Astoria for a week whilst skiing as a family of 3. The room was comfortable and the right size for us although storage was a bit of an issue, especially with bulky ski clothes. We also had a room that opened onto the terrace which was a great bonus. Whilst we were fine with charging phones etc in the room, my hair dryer/styler short circuited the room as the sockets are low amp, so don't bother taking one! The entire hotel was very very warm, even adjusting the thermostat in the room we slept with the door slightly open on some nights (bear in mind it was snowing). The restaurant area is also VERY warm. Food in the restaurant was fantastic, there is a buffet/apppetizer section but the rest of the menu is table service and you need to choose the day before. Breakfast is buffet style. Sliders, slippers and shorts are not allowed in the restaurant. The gym and sports facilities are dated but ok, the pool area is nice but got very crowded in the late afternoons when everyone is back from skiing. Remember to bring a swimming hat (men and women) as you cannot swim without one. All the staff were very friendly and attentive. The only exception to this was the very blasé attitude towards no one planning ahead to have the snow cleared from the parking areas despite heavy snow fall being forecast several days ahead The parking at the front is limited and very tight and several cars got stuck. Underground car park is also available and there is a heated ski room. Overall we enjoyed our stay. The village and surroundings were very picturesque and the hotel is very conveniently located for all the main local slopes which are just a short drive or bus ride away; the closest, Bertoldi, is 5 minutes down the road

The structure is very old and imposing, but quite well maintained and pleasantly conveys a certain sense of the past and ancient luxury. The staff in general (reception, restaurant,...) are not particularly kind or helpful and sometimes seem not to know exactly their task. Restaurant: the buffet is abundant and varied, both for dinner and breakfast. The quality of the food is good, the cook knows how to do his job! Rooms (junior suite): very spacious and with a particular layout of the sanitary ware, but very pleasant. It has a terrace overlooking the lake. The temperature is adequate. The room is equipped with mini bar and "warmer" which is actually a plate stove.... too bad they do not even provide a pot so it is unusable. Entertainment: afternoon and evening only. The boy is nice and my children liked it. He doesn't have a lot of equipment, so he gets as worked up as he can with drawings and television. In the evenings he organizes activities like quizzes for adults, it's pleasant. Pool and relaxation area: the pool is clean, the water and the rooms are pleasantly warm. Relaxation area closed to children, but no control whatsoever Negative note: they try to monetize everything. The evening bingo you pay and also expensive, water at meals is paid dear (3.50 € for 0.75 ml), in short, on everything you can earn they do without hesitation. Overall we had a good time and pleasant holiday. Treatment in line with the amount paid.

I stayed 5 days in Lavarone at the Hotel Astoria for the New Year and I had a great time. The dinner was perfect, from the organization to the quality of the food and entertainment. Aperitif at 19, then the exquisite dinner, singing performance of Matron Giovanni, who has beautifully engaged in songs by Battisti and Sinatra, then the post evening with other live music, trumpets, streamers and even cotechino and lentils at midnight! The following days were also perfect, between great food (canederli superfine, strudel, pork cheek, etc.) and great professionalism of all the staff (thanks above all to John and Caesar). Experience to repeat and recommend s all!
