4 STARS? THE PHOTOS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES.
I waited until the end of the vacation for this review, because what we experienced at Baia Aranzos goes well beyond a simple negative experience.
The only positive notes are the outdoor greenery and the pool: beautiful and relatively large. For everything else, I really struggle to understand how this property can be classified as 4 stars.
The cleanliness of the rooms is probably the most serious aspect. Behind the wardrobes we found cookie packages and other trash left by previous guests, under the beds accumulated dirt and cobwebs present since our arrival. During a week-long stay, the bathroom was never really cleaned and the sink remained clogged for the entire week, despite our reports.
To this is added an unacceptable state of maintenance: electrical outlets and plates ripped out, an outlet detached from the wall with the compartment behind it open, external structures cracked and deteriorated, blankets dirty and heavily worn. The attached photographs show exactly what we found.
Even getting towels has become a problem. They were not being changed and, after repeated requests, it was explained to us that they did not have enough towels for all the rooms. The solution was to give us pool towels to use after showering.
The dining aspect probably reaches the lowest point of the entire stay.
Calling it a restaurant would be inaccurate: it is a cafeteria, and I say this without wanting to offend cafeterias.
Chaos, dirty dishes, food on the floor, extremely modest quality, and almost non-existent service.
The water management is a scene that I think perfectly summarizes the level of service: six-packs of plastic water bottles, still in their supermarket packaging, were placed on a common table. Every guest had to go there, open the package, and take their own bottle independently.
Naturally, the water was almost always warm.
When I asked a waiter if it was possible to have some cold water, I was basically told that that was what they had and I had to settle for it.
But unfortunately, this is almost secondary to the rest. During our stay, we repeatedly found hair in our food and, on one occasion, even a metal staple in what we were eating. This is also photographically documented.
I went to the reception several times to ask for explanations and action, almost always without obtaining concrete solutions. Almost every time I went to the reception, I found other guests in line to complain. I can imagine how difficult it is to spend a shift constantly collecting complaints for problems that the girls at the reception are evidently not given the means to solve.
The equipped beach is also consistent with the rest: old and dilapidated umbrellas and sunbeds stained with animal excrement.
And let me be clear: I am not expecting a luxury hotel. I am judging a facility that presents itself and is classified as a 4-star hotel. I can accept an outdated facility, simple decor, or a buffet without great expectations. What I do not consider acceptable is filth, poor maintenance, basic services that are missing, and situations like those I have described and photographed.
Precisely for this reason, I intend to get to the bottom of the property's classification as well. I inquired about the system in place in Sardinia and I want to understand if all the necessary requirements for a 4-star property are actually present and correspond to what was declared in the self-classification procedure submitted to the local municipality.
I am not asking those who read this to trust my opinion.
Look at the photographs.
I have been traveling for many years and have stayed in properties of every level. Baia Aranzos is, without hesitation, the worst hotel experience I can remember.
⭐ 1 star, exclusively because it is not possible to assign zero.
