Residence Costa Ruja

Was there with the family. Surprisingly charged me Eur 25/day as "service fee". My voucher said it was Eur10/day. She tried to convince me that the fee is also shown in other sites like Trivago... no sense... no air conditioning in the rooms. No elevator. Summary: a ordinary flat full of rules and penalties. Boring.

Costa Ruja is close to the beach and Costa Smeralda beaches, it was clean, everything worked fine, there is wifi, the kitchen is well-stocked for self-catering purposes, it's convenient and the staff super helpful. Definitely hire a car, there is free parking onsite. We definitely recommend it and had a wonderful holiday staying here.

Well, where to start... this is a rather sad, aging hotel “resort” that really needs either a substantial makeover or just pulling down. The prices on the Costa Smeralda are high and that said, this is a cheap stay for the area. The people running the place are lovely and helpful but as they say, “you can’t make a silk purse out of a sow’s ear”. I’m sure it was great back in 1980. No aircon, dodgy wifi, tired fittings and decor in the rooms, the shower is barely big enough to get into, let alone turn around in. It’s just not up to even 3 star expectations really any more. The only thing that allows it to get away with its shabbiness is the location. Really, if you can’t/won’t shell out €200 a night, better off to keep going down to Olbia where you’ll get better value for money. Just drive to the beach and save your money.
