Camping La Focetta Sicula

Camping located in a village near Taormina, where one finds the global jet set and Italian luxury, which contrasts greatly with the facilities offered in this aging campsite run by an extremely demanding person for both campers and herself. While it is true that everything deserves rules, there is also the art and manner of applying them, which, in my opinion, the campsite management has not understood or needs to correct quickly. Finally, the state of the sanitary facilities leaves much to be desired for the price charged.

So this is not a campsite but truly something indescribable. I start by saying that if one has the Sicilybtour, the pitches designated for this are three or four, all under the sun in a very ugly part of the campsite; the others cost more. Electricity over 4 kW is charged at €1 per kilowatt. If one has a small dog, it can only be left in the pitch; it cannot roam around the campsite, if it can even be called that, not even on a leash. It cannot access the beach, and to relieve itself, it must be taken to the main road because it cannot even be taken to the parking lot, which is all on rough ground. We asked to do the loading, and they asked us for €5 because loading is charged separately. We specified that we would be staying for at least four days, but they did not care; we would have to pay €5 for the loading. Therefore, I strongly advise against it for anyone wanting to go; the owner is truly an arrogant person, and when we left, she called us southerners. It was us and a couple of our friends who are actually Sicilian, and believe me, we have visited a lot of campsites in Sicily, and first of all, with the Sicily tour, we chose the pitches where to set up, and they were not imposed on us. I have not found such arrogance and bullying not only in Sicily, where everyone is very kind, but in no other part of Italy.

Pagamos cuatro días de camping aunque, dos días estuvimos fuera visitando Stromboli y aún así, usando la electricidad solo para el consumo del frigorífico, nos dijo que habíamos superado los 16 kW que nos correspondían y tuvimos que pagar un extra. Si hubiese querido actuar con honestidad nos debería de haber mostrado el valor inicial del contador el primer día que nos conectamos, pero no lo hizo. Solo nos mostró los valores el último día y nos dijo que habíamos superado el límite. Este camping tiene un acceso muy complicado con un giro de casi 180 grados y una puerta de acceso bastante estrecha. We were traveling with a car and a 7.9-meter caravan, and the lady at the reception told us that our caravan was too big for the ACSI pitches, so we had to use a higher-rate pitch. The electricity connection includes 4 kW per day. We paid for four days at the campsite, even though we spent two days away visiting Stromboli. Yet, even with the electricity only being used to run the refrigerator, she told us we had exceeded our 16 kW allowance and we had to pay extra. If she had wanted to act honestly, she should have shown us the initial meter reading on the first day we plugged in, but she didn't. She only showed us the numbers on the final day and told us we had gone over the limit. This campsite is very difficult to access, featuring a sharp, almost 180-degree turn and a quite narrow entrance.
