Hotel Tourist

I want to premise that I was the one who made the mistake in the first place, but I would like to make a note. A respectable hotel, if it does not see the guest arrive during the day or by the scheduled check-in time, at the very least makes a notification. A phone call or a message to say: "Dear guest, we are waiting for you, has something happened?". The point is that if I make a mistake on the date and arrive from far away, finding myself in front of a wall that simply tells me "the date is wrong, goodbye and thanks" leaves me completely bewildered. Yes, the initial mistake is mine, but a hotel worthy of the name still tries to find a solution together with the guest. They could have told me: "Look, unfortunately we are fully booked tonight, but we can help you find another facility nearby," or, instead of keeping the payment like a gift, they could have met me halfway with a partial refund or maybe told me to stay here for today, we have the pool, the umbrella for the newborn. Instead, absolutely nothing. I was not asked where I came from, if I needed anything, or a minimum of assistance. It is precisely in these emergency situations that the true charisma, professionalism, and depth of the facility where one chooses to stay become evident.

Wonderful place, welcoming staff, with a special positive note for the lifeguards whom I hope to find again in the coming years. I recommend it to all those who wish to relax and spend a peaceful vacation.

Nice hotel, but we had a few problems Arrival 4/5. We took the train from Taormina and then a short cab ride from Cefalu Central Station. Check in was fast, but not very friendly. We were in our room within 20 minutes max. Location 4/5. Lovely. Directly overlooking the beachwith beautiful blue water. The sun sets directly in front of the hotel. It is a 15 minute walk along the promenade to the old town. There are some restaurants nearby, but they looked a bit touristy for us, so we ate in the old town. The hotel does feel a little isolated. Room 3/5. We had booked one of the best rooms in the hotel and it looked pleasant on arrival. Large comfy bed. Very clean and tidy. Small bedside cabinets with power sockets. Large tv, fridge and desk. Extra single bed, which was very handy for storage. The highlight of the room is the balcony and view. Very large balcony with fab side sea views. We did though have a couple of problems. On arrival I tried to turn on the tv. No go. I went to reception. A nice man arrived - the tv remote had no power. Fortunately I had a usb-c cable and charged it. We opened the large patio doors and it seemed to come off its hinges. So off to reception. The nice man fiddled with the door’s floor mechanism and it seemed to be working. Then my bedside light would not work. Fortunately just screwing it in further solved it. Then we noticed that although the aircon was set on 16C, yes 16C, the room was 26C. Back to reception. The same nice man came again and said it was fine. I explained that if the aircon was set at 16C for a long period and the fan speed was on max, then the room should be cooling down. He went and got us s portable aircon, which worked fine, but required the outlet to go through the patio door and this let in loads of warm air from outside. We had booked for two nights, but left the hotel after one night. A shame, because it's a pleasant hotel, but we just could not live with the aircon and the patio door not working. The hotel kindly gave us a lift to the station.
