Baglio La Porta di San Gerardo

We stayed here as a family in August 2026. Starting first with the location, which is a bit of a drive up the mountain in San Vito, to get to this gem of a location, perching over the edge of the mountainside in a somewhat secluded part of the mountain. The drive is a bit difficult for those not accustomed to driving in one lane roads up and down a mountain. Asides from the drive, once you enter your welcomed into a very well renovated clearly old structure with a unique charm and beauty to it. There are only a handful of guestrooms in this property, so you immediately get a sense of the exclusivity of the property. You park your car, then walk through an old archway to get to the reception, with an adjoining bar area, and restaurant area overlooking the mountainside , going down to an infinity pool below overlooking the Mediterranean sea. The view here is worth it all. I don't believe I've ever stayed in a hotel with such a gorgeous view. The property is in a quiet spot, and so you can enjoy the surrounding nature of the mountain and the infinity pool thoroughly here. The room was decently sized but felt a bit cramped for a family of four. Very well equipped. Cell reception is quite poor in the area, but most people coming here would be looking to somewhat distance themselves from the real world for a few days. wifi is available and makes it easy to stay connected. Breakfast, lunch and dinner were all delicious here, and somewhat price-matched to other higher end eateries in San Vito. The staff are very supportive and helpful and will help you book any excursions in San Vito if you need the help. The property is in the middle of nature, and we stumbled on local animals like boar and foxes at night while walking. This was probably the most interesting part and somewhat inconvenient part of our stay here, as the boar became somewhat defensive when we tried to approach it to get to the parking lot. Would definitely stay here again if I get the chance.

This place is something out of the Sicily context in a very good way, we got there from Pallazzo Liberty Palermo after a request to the manager who I have to say THANK YOU for understanding and changing out accommodation options - Baglio la Porta is amazing for a few days of relaxation - very quiet, clean surroundings, perfect pool with a mirific view. The room we got had 2 private terrace one in the front and one in the back were the privacy is a plus, and also the view to the mountain on one part and the sea on the other was excellent, clean and comfy . The breakfast was good with enough options and tasty but the restaurant menu could be more diverse - that is my only remark - the restaurant menu should change after 2-3 days - you can taste all the dishes is the menu in 2 days and after that you feel the need to search other options. Last but not least, the sun rise .... mama mia!!!

A truly excellent facility. Spacious and comfortable rooms, a beautifully maintained garden full of perfectly cared-for plants. Infinity pool surrounded by very comfortable loungers and small seating areas where one can sip aperitifs or other delicacies. Located along the road from S. Vito at the entrance of the Zingaro Reserve, on a charming promontory. Of course, to find some shops, bars, and restaurants, one must go to S. Vito (about a 15-minute drive). Varied and abundant breakfast. All the staff are kind, attentive, and professional, including reception and bar, but a special mention goes to Dario at the reception. He truly pampered us from the welcome to the last moment, also giving us valuable suggestions on where to go and what to see. The only downside is the presence, not prohibited, of children. In the pool, it sometimes felt like being on a beach, and unfortunately, we had a French family with two girls under 6 years old in the room above us who started running, screaming, and crying from 7:00 in the morning, regardless of the gentle and prompt reminder made by the staff.
