Villa Cerniglia

All wonderful! Clean room, sea view room... and friendly and welcoming staff Thank you!

We were greeted by a lovely German receptionist called Christine. Positives first. In a great position on promenade with an easy flat walk inyo centre of beautiful Cefalu. The shower was good and the room was very clean and bed comfortable. She had given us a quiet room overlooking the garden. The room itself was large but was devoid of anything of comfort or use. No shelves or wardrobes or towel rail or hooks.A few pictures would have been nice. We did ask for a kettle and someone eventually gave us one. Breakfast was boring but was included so that was good. Apart from Christine the staff were quite unfriendly and seemed bored.

I can’t say enough about Villa Cerniglia! We stayed for 5 nights in the B&B section of the property which is connected to the Sunset Hotel. This arrangement gave us all of the amenities the hotel had to offer…a stunning edgeless pool with an even more stunning long range view of the sea, the beach immediately across the street with discounted pricing for daily chair/umbrella rental for guests of the hotel/B&B, the historic medieval village of Cefalu, La Roccha, and the Cefalu Cathedral consecrated in 1167 and a short and scenic stroll into the village along the sea. The staff were kind and it was clear they couldn’t do enough for their guests, including us! We had booked a sea view room online. When we first arrived, we were told our room was not sea view. So we immediately walked out, back to our luggage outside , and started looking for another hotel in order to have a sea view. A few minutes later, the front desk person came out to us and asked if he could show us two rooms that were available (not “sea view”) so I agreed to go look at them. Well guess what? The rooms each had a full wall of floor to ceiling windows with 180 degree views of all of the things I mentioned above! Spectacular view! Apparently their idea of sea view is just the rooms in the front! And this was on the side. So glad he came back out to convince us to stay. In the US, I guess we use different terminology! The property is well maintained and the experience for the value was terrific. We are world travelers and probably have pretty exacting standards compared to many travelers. We highly recommend Villa Cerniglia for your stay in Cefalu. We would certainly return here if we come back to Cefalu in the future!
