Hotel Mediterraneo

Unfortunately, our stay at this hotel was one of the most disappointing holiday experiences we have had. From the moment we arrived, the room was in a very poor condition. The walls were heavily scuffed and marked, there was visible dirt and grime, the toilet had not been properly cleaned and still contained waste, and there was significant rust on appliances and fixtures. There were also badly patched holes in the walls and damage to a door which appeared consistent with an attempted break-in. The room was extremely small and the air conditioning was ineffective. None of this was accurately reflected in the photographs we had seen when booking. We immediately asked reception if we could change rooms and even offered to pay for an upgrade, but were told there was no availability. Things then became even more concerning when we discovered black mould in the bathroom. This was particularly worrying for me as I have asthma. After repeatedly raising the issue with reception, three members of staff eventually inspected the mould and we were moved to another room. Unfortunately, the replacement room was only slightly better. It was still dirty, much smaller than expected and again did not resemble the accommodation shown in the booking photographs. Then, on two separate nights, we found cockroaches in the bathroom, including one coming from the doorframe. We reported both incidents to reception, but the response was simply “okay”, with no meaningful assistance or alternative room offered. This affected our sleep and left us feeling anxious about going to bed in case we encountered another one. Other communal areas of the hotel also appeared dirty and poorly maintained. Also hotel advertises free wifi but this is a very poor excuse for wifi in my opinion. It would connect for all of 30 seconds then drop, i had to pay out of pocket for an E-sim as i had run out after only 2 days which has never happened before even after 2 weeks trips abroad. What makes this even more disappointing is that this holiday was supposed to be a break from everyday stresses. Instead, we spent a significant amount of our holiday dealing with cleanliness and maintenance issues, repeatedly going to reception, worrying about mould and cockroaches and losing sleep. We paid a significant amount of money for our holiday and genuinely do not feel the standard of accommodation we received reflected what we paid for or what was advertised. I would strongly recommend that anyone considering staying here carefully research the actual condition of the rooms and not rely solely on the booking photographs. Unfortunately, based on our experience, we would not stay here again or recommend this hotel.

Very comfortable and central hotel for visiting Palermo on foot It is located on the edge but still outside the limited traffic zone Not easy to find with the GPS since it is located on a semi-pedestrian street We had a large, clean room-apartment equipped with everything needed. It is not impossible to park nearby on the street in the blue zones or in the adjacent parking lots, but the hotel does have private paid parking. The reception staff were very friendly. The hotel has a large, air-conditioned lobby equipped with sofas where we were able to wait for the right time for the airport while sitting comfortably, avoiding the fierce August heat. Positive value for money.

Room booked at the last minute following a cancelled flight. Very good location. No parking available that day at the hotel, only on the street nearby. You can hear noises from neighboring rooms and the AC is not the most efficient.
